problem with Saturation function - please help!
I have Corel Paintshop Pro 2021. Under Adjust, then Hue and Saturation, then Hue/Saturation/Lightness I often reduced the saturation of photos I was editing by using the slider on the left hand side. They could go from intense colors to greyscale and everything in between. Recently I moved the color wheel that's in the center, and ever since then the function has not just reduced overall color saturation, instead it has turned the photos different colors. I tried changing the setting to Defaults and Factory Defaults but I never got back to being able simply to move the photo from intense colors to greyscale and everything in between without giving preference to any one hue.

That's very strange. When you reset the tool to default do your sliders and check boxes look like the ones below?
If not, you could try resetting PSP to default. Here are the instructions in case you need them.

Re: problem with Saturation function - please help!
As per Kathy_9's post there are two things I would check specifically.
1) Edit: dropdown. In the screenshot Kathy_9 posted you can see it's set to "Master". When "colorize" is unchecked you want this drop-down box to be set to "Master" anything else will target specific colors. Master targets the whole image and all of the colors in it.
2) Colorize: If this is checked then PSP will overwrite all color, saturation, and lightness values of all of the colors in the image. If it's unchecked then you can use the Edit: drop-down to target specific hues.
So either have Colorize checked before you use the saturation slider, or have the drop-down box set to Master before adjusting the saturation slider. Unless PSP is misbehaving and needs a reset, that should be all you need to do. If doing either of those two things doesn't fix the problem you do want to do a full factory reset as Kathy_9 pointed out.
