Hi all,
I'm looking for some help with a rather frustrating issue that I've dealt with for a long time and now want to see if it's possible to actually fix it!
When Im creating a new project, I insert the media files of my raw footage into the library panel. I'll review the clips and remove the ones I don't want. Sometimes it works fine but other times (at least half the time), it doesn't actually remove the file I selected from the library panel but the one next to it, or some times further down the file list. To make sure i'm absolutely clicking the right file, I'll left click on it once to make sure the right file is highlighted, then i'll right click on it, click on delete from the drop down menu and confirm that I want to remove that thumbnail in the dialogue box that pops up. It then proceeds to delete the thumbnail next to the one I've chosen. My blood pressure can only take so much, please advise!
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum -- and probably a strange coincidence that another Ken Berry is answering you!
I've been on this forum for quite a long time now, but I am pretty sure this is the first time I have heard of your problem. At any rate, I have certainly never experienced it myself with the 16 or so versions of VideoStudio I have used. I am wondering if the same thing happens when you select the video you want to delete and manually press the Delete key rather than right clicking and choosing Delete from the drop down menu.

When I first came on here I definitely did do a double take at the name! I'm afraid it does, if it helps troubleshoot the issue I can record and upload a video of it happening. It's very bizarre, but it happens more often than not and when it does happen, almost all the time it deletes the file immediately to the right which means I can just attempt to delete the right file by clicking on the one to the immediate left of what I actually want to remove. Works most of the time...except on those odd occasions Video Studio actually removes the selected thumbnail!

Re: VS2020 deletes the incorrect Media File Thumbnail from Library Panel
Hopefully someone else will comment here. I have been trying to replicate your problem, but no matter how many clips I have in the project, when I do exactly as you do, every chosen file is deleted. So far there have been absolutely no wrong deletions.
I should perhaps comment that I don't have VS 2020 on my computer -- only 2021 and 2022. But as I said in my earlier post, I have used some 16 different versions of VS and never heard this problem mentioned before. About the only thing left for me is to suggest you try a reset of VS 2020. To do this, go to C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) and rename the 23.0 there to something like 23.0_OLD. Then restart VS. It will take a few minutes to rebuild databases etc so give it time. But when VS reopens test to see if your problem still occurs.
If it does, then all I can suggest is that you uninstall VS using the cleanup tool for VS 2020 which you can find at https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=329686#p329686 Then reinstall it and see if the problem is still there. I assume you still have your installation file.

Re: VS2020 deletes the incorrect Media File Thumbnail from Library Panel
If for some reason the library clip names are wrong, transposed across the clips.
A right click for Locate on Computer will find the actual file, is that file the same as the library clip?
Like Ken I can only suggest resetting either the program or the library from Settings - Library Manager - Reset Library
Of course any reset you try will need you to rebuild the library again.
You could export the library as a backup then Import when you have reset, but if the library is corrupt you will be back to square one by importing the corrupt library.
Ok try this
Start a new project, insert all clips from the library to the timelines, save the project.
After resetting the program / library, open the VSP, create a new library folder, drag all images back to the library.
Are they in the correct order and delete correctly?
