Black line using green screen

Post by fred456885 »

I'm keying a video image over a video background and when I remove the green I'm left with a black line that matches the the bottom frame of the image I'm keying. NOTE: I used customized motion to reduce the image size and to move it in the correct place over the background, but now I'm left with that black line running along the bottom of the keyed image. I tried removing it using the blending tool (cutoff and threshold under the normal setting), but never could get rid of it. Suggestions?

Which Chroma filter are you using: the one which came with VS or the NewBlue one? Can you also confirm that you are still using VS 2020.

Hi Ken--

Yes, still using 2020, and I was using the Chroma filter that came with VSP. It's worked fine with several other green screens in the same project, but not this one. And it's only showing the bottom line, not the other three sides of the box.

Quick followup: I tried using New Blues chroma key filter and the image keys well, but the bottom line remains.

Another followup: If I move the cutoff slider (under blending) almost all the way to the right, the black line disappears, but the image I'm keying (a white rabbit) begins to break up.

Hey Ken, I finally gave up trying to make the white bunny work, used a brown one, and the black line is gone. If it was the white bunny I'm still not sure why only the bottom line of the frame was the issue, but at least I can move on. Thanks for your help!

I do have one other question: The background I'm keying the rabbit over was shot with a handheld camera and I'm trying to match the motion so the rabbit appears stable. I've found documentation on tracking motion and it mentions matching motion, but I can't find anything on how to do that.
