Lengthy delays in loading stored images

Lengthy delays in loading stored images

I suppose it´s because images are becoming larger 4mb plus, that it seems to take ages for my stored images to load up.
Is there a remedy for this? Can I dump cache and similar, or is there a better way?
Advice please.
