Unable to use PSP

Post by MOORESKETCHES »

I have PSP x64. Using Win11

I have been using it for the last three years and downloaded the newest version about 6 months ago. I have been using it and saving file with no issues. Suddenly I am now getting a message and unable to save anything.

"Because of the limitations of the specified file format (and possible the save options you've selected), the saved file will be limited to a merged image. The 16 bit image will be saved a 8 bit"

But it doesn't save it. I get this message now for every file I try to save.

Have you tried resetting PSP? To do so, and with PSP closed, hold down the Shift key when you click the desktop PSP icon to open the program. You should get a message asking if you want to reset it. Say OK, then be patient as the reset will take a little time. Make sure you also save any customized settings or workspaces before you do this. Otherwise they will be lost in the reset.

It did not help. What I did find was to go into Preferences - General Preferences - Warnings: and disable any of the warnings pertaining to what is happening. I actually disabled all the warnings. I then went into Preferences - General Preferences - Auto Action: and checked never under any prompts related to my issue.
This took care of the problem and I am back to saving files and creating as I was before.
