Too Small

Post by Stumann666 »

I recently went from a monitor that was 1920 x 1080 to one that is 2560 x 1440. Now the text for the program is much smaller. I'm referring to all the things that are part of the program such as the status bar, tool bar, standard bar, etc. Is there a way of enlarging the text for these toolbars within the program? The text is annoyingly small now. I don't want to change my monitors resolution back to 1920 x 1080, that would defeat the purpose of getting the new monitor.

Unfortunately, Corel only added a feature to increase the size of text etc in PSP 2021 and subsequent versions. So your PSP 2020 would have just missed out. And believe me I know how important this is. I have a 32 inch 4K monitor and everything just looked tiny until the change, even when I had set Windows to 150% zoom. (Have you already tried increasing Windows zoom?)

I did, however, find that with the sister program Video Studio -- which does not have the built-in enlargement system -- that I could at least increase the size of text and menus another way.

With VS closed, I go to the desktop icon and right click. In the menu which appears, select Properties, then go to the Compatibility tab. Down towards the bottom there is a button labelled "Change high DPI settings". Click that and a dialogue box opens. Down towards the bottom of that, tick the box beside "Override high DPI scaling behavior". Then in the little window for "Scaling performed by:" select "System". OK out, then OK again. Now when you open VS things appear considerably bigger. It may be worth a try if you do something similar with PSP.

Thanks for the info. Window magnifier doesn't really do well. I wonder if I can get a PSP2021 somewhere? Does Corel sell the older versions (2021) as an upgrade?

There's a post not too far down from yours about HumbleBundle which includes PSP2022. You can get it and a lot of other things for a minimum of $30.49.

That offer is genuine. Just remember, though, that the offer is for PSP 2022 Pro, not Ultimate -- so missing the extra bells and whistles which come with the Ultimate version. However, PSP 2022 Pro is still the full and top version, just missing those extras.

Are you sure about the changing the text size was introduced in 2021? I have this in PSP2019 and it definitely increases the text size.

Well I have to apologize. My suggestion that it came with VS 2021 was obviously faulty and based on my increasingly wobbly memory!  Good news for Stumann666 if they haven't already found that on their VS 2020...

Thanks, it took some hunting but I found it, under user interface. I've been looking under preferences. I can even change the icon size.
