Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
I must admit, I too am having the same problems with the program freezing and being very unstable after two attempts of applying the update.
My system could not be more stock. I used video studio for small projects, and creative ideas. It is basically a hobby. Until this update all previous versions of the program have been rocksolid, and if there were glitches they would be minor.
I think one way to move forward, or at least lessen the frustration users are experiencing is to ensure that all future updates have been rollback future, even if this uses a lot of storage. After an update has been successfully applied it would be simple enough to include a "Remove backup files" option.
I am watching the form carefully to see when the next iteration of an update comes along.
Take care everyone.

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
I have the same observation.
The previous version of 2022 Videostudio was quite solid. I got the crash very rarely and the user interface was very smooth.
Since the update was applied I am not able to work on any GoPro movies (4k 60 hevc) anymore due to constant freezes.
The way it freeze is very frustrating as it does not indicate that the system "does" anything. It just holds the entire screen and does not let to work with a proper smoothness.
I got it around with completely uninstalling the Videostudio tool, cleaning the registry entries using the cleaner tool form the sticky posts, then reinstalling the complete platform once again.
And no more problems appears.
Only the information that the upgrade is ready to install from time to time, but at least I am able to continue working.

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
It seems that a lot of people are having this problem and from what I've read it it's been reported numerous times. It is disheartening when there is no constructive response.
I can't afford to waste my time every few months completely uninstalling the program and reinstalling it to see if the update has changed. Operating systems are complicated enough that such an action would only increase the possibility of other things going wrong.
Even if the response was "we have no idea what the problem is, but we are working on gathering more information." That would be something and probably would cut down on the number of tickets Corel is receiving.
While we wait I do have another simple suggestion for future iterations of the program. When an update notifications is displayed, give a version number of the update or something similar so the user can tell an old update from a more current release.
In the meantime I will keep perusing the board and being involved in the ongoing discussions.

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
I'm having issues with VS 2022 Ultimate, crashing and note popping up that my video file is corrupt. I don't have time to deal with support right now. If I uninstall my VS 2022 Ult version and reinstall but go in and change updates to manual, would that work to not have update that seems to be causing the problem per what I read above?
Thanks,
Candy

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
Hi Candy
When you re-install Video Studio 2022 it installs to version 25.1.0.472
The 1 in the number indicates Service patch 1
Running the program and you will get a message "an update is ready to install, Do you want to install it now". Hit the X in the top right to close.
This would have installed Service patch 2
Yes a bit of a pain but we do not know how to stop the popup.
I have Check Manually set but still pops up.

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
Thanks Trevor: So I did the VS Ultimate 2022 uninstall and then reinstalled it, 2 times. When I tried to open on both I get this weird login box with white blanks, "continue" did not work. I have a ticket in with Support. To install I used a link from the support page, not one that was emailed to me, maybe that is the problem? Attached jpg is the screen I get with I open the program now.
(Backstory - Corel did a fix, an update on 2022 Ultimate to get rid of comb-like line down left side of MP2 renders. They kept wanting me to do a bunch of stuff with my computer, update drives etc. but turns out it was the software, took 6 months to fix. The line is gone on render but now the program is crashing and corrupt message box pops up. Hm, maybe the fix they did for me caused the whole thing to not work, should I get out of Dodge, lol.)

Hi Candy
Please view this post / hot fix

Seems the messages may be corrupt, deleting those may fix the registration panel.
If it isnt one thing its another.....

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
Trevor - Thanks so much, you are a lifesaver. From the link you posted, I am now able to open VS 2022.
More backstory - As I mentioned above, VS 2021 and 2022 (before update) produced a comb-like line down left side of MP2 renders. I still have one orchestra that wants DVDs. I opened a ticket last year, after much back and forth Corel determined it was a problem with the software, so the recent update for VS 2022 got rid of that comb-like line down the left of MP2s. But because there are other problems with the VS 2022 update (the corrupt file popup, etc.) what I'll do is build the project in 2021, render it to MP4 in 2021 (I also need MP4s), then burn it as a disc image ISO in VS 2022, and burn DVDs from there. Long story but I think this might work to make DVDs without the comb line. So then I'll wait for fixes to 2022 before using it to build a project.

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
There is a way to stop the "Update waiting to be installed" popup. In the Appdata / local / Corel you will notice the exe file (big one - i forgot already, but around 1gb). Delete this file and set the manual update. This is getting the popup to disappear forever.
Best regards

Thanks for that info.remmyhi wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 12:52 pm There is a way to stop the "Update waiting to be installed" popup. The files in question are here
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Corel\VideoStudio2022
I renamed the folder to \VideoStudio2022_old
It seems to be the two .xml files that are causing the popup.
So far running 2022 was clear of the popup.

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
Thanks remmyhi and Trevor for that. I followed your instructions, and so far that pop-up message has disappeared. Every day though, when I open my computer but not Video Studio, I am getting a pop-up notification from the Taskbar, offering me the update. So far it is only once a day, so I can simply cancel the message and ignore it.

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
Ken
As i mentioned I hat two accounts with Corel so setting my communications preferences had to be done on both accounts.
I now realise i had accessed the Discovery Center and indeed opted to receive their newsletter which i believe included any program up dates. I have now removed the newsletter hopefully to reduce these popups.
Not that the popups affect me that much, I just ignore them, but would be nice to know we can stop them if we wish to do that.

Re: VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!
Welcome.
Apart from this - do we hear any news directly from Corel or Alludo about the potential fix for the crashing and freezing issues in the latest update?
