VS 2022 SP2 New Update issues with crashing?!

Post by HumblyDriven »

The new update for video anyone else having issues with video crashing? When I try to edit my GoPro videos files it crashes about 40 secs in. Before the Update (In VideoStudio 2022) it was fine so I had to uninstall the new update & reinstall it without it. What is so different with the new update that's causing these files to not work now? Or if it does work I will only hear the audio while I see the curser moving while playing while the video sits frozen, or if it does work it freezes every few seconds delaying or pausing it every few seconds. It's almost a 9 min file. I thought it was the file at first but as I said before the update, it worked just fine. I even tested it again to make sure. I opened it in DaVinci Resolve works just fine no crashing or delaying at all. But I like the new look of the new video studio update but I just can't edit these files anymore.

Given that it is a new update you should report this to Corel Support.

I can only add my voice to Trevor's suggestion that you contact Corel Support. I installed the update yesterday but hadn't tested it with video from my GoPro Hero 9. I just have, and had no trouble with any of it. FWIW I have the Hero 9 set to use the HEVC H.265 codec so all my video is with that. I don't have any H.264 AVCHD from the Hero ready to hand. You don't give any of the properties of the video you are having trouble with or the model of the Hero you are using... You also have not given any of your computer specifications, and Support will undoubtedly want to see those too.

Yea. I'm not to goo with computers or finding "specs". I also have the 9 but I have put in support just waiting back to hear.

Vicky -- you could always try a phased approach. Reinstall without SP2. See if it works. Then install SP2 and see if it works... or not. If it works, then try adding NB Total FX and test again. That would at least give you some idea as to whether you simply reinstall without SP2. If you don't use SP2, it would then be interesting to see whether installing Total FX keeps VS working or not...

After that latest update my preview window freezes, although the mark on the "scrubber" still moves.
Editing any movie is no longer possible.

Shouldn't an update improve the program instead of making it unuseable?

Hi Marco73
Sorry you are now experiencing problems after installing SP2
We do not work for Alludo just volunteer’s helping with the forum.
You should report this to Alludo customer support.
We do not know of a way to revert / remove SP2 without re-installing the program.

Unfortunately Alludo will eventually combine SP2 within the installation files if history repeats itself, meaning we will no longer be able to install without SP2

VS is not listed as a compatible product, you should confirm with NB Support as to the suitability of NB Total FX for VS
Any the old legacy filters that you own can be installed without issue, but nowadays NB seem to create individual filter packages for each video editor

Corel told me to update the driver of my graphic card and that my system was full of errors.

I did the update and the bug got even worse: Video Studio crahed.

So right now I uninstalled Video Studio 2022 and re-installed it and denied the latest udpate.

Now it works.

I actually did talked to the NewBlue tech department. The "NewBlueTotalFX" plugin sold thru VideoStudio is supposed to be compatible with VS and Pinnacle Studio. Meaning that the version of the plugin sold thru VS or Pinnacle was configured especially for these two editors. And..., yes this is the reason why COREL is not listed on their site for this thing is particular. Now listen to this: I upgraded my VS then installed the plugin, however after the installation it created a conflict with my copy of VS. Things got a lil intense with both departments here, COREL kept on asking me to do all these random things, they even checked my system info to make sure it met the requirements to run and what not, my system sounded fine!!! I updated my system BIOS drives just incase, etc... Same issue, kept on crashing after the upgrade and the plugin. In my head I was like, wait... Perhaps its the plugin causing all these errors. The NewBlue guys did same thing, checked my system and its supposed handle it all, tried different ways to arrange things, folders etc and nothing worked. Conclusion from COREL. We don't know! Uninstall and re-install. We apparently tried it all. Nothing worked. They tech guy got so frustrated he gave up on me, hanged up the phone on me. Besides all the above, the language can be a barrier; sometimes is hard to understand these people over the phone. On the other side the New blue guys told me to manually remove all folders and whatever was registered on the registry editor part of the computer. Re-boot and install VS, but this time on a different drive other than my C drive and there, its back. Great success. Lol As soon as I reinstalled the plugin it made it unresponsive over and over again. Here back to zero. I removed the plugin and there, all back to normal, I'm def not upgrading my VS thou. I guess the upgrade is not for everyone Lol. And..., on the plugin the NewBlue guys concluded its not compatible after generating the same conflict with their copy of VS. So go figured... Sounded like nobody cared to check is the plugin generated for COREL actually worked or not before putting it for sale. NewBlue said they were gonna work on a patch to fix all errors and release it thru a future VS update. Now I'm fighting with COREL to refund me $300, its such a nightmare. Wish me luck. :)

I hear you, I had exactly the same issues... I'm editing without the upgrade on my VS. Runs perfectly fine and smooth.

Tried it all, its not compatible the NewBlue tech department concluded since they generated the same conflicts with their copy of VS. So the upgrade released for VS can create all sort of errors, conflicts for some users I guess. Gave me all the possible errors even after having the system approved with the requirements checked by their tech support team. I'm running VS without the upgrade, its nice and smooth. Now the NewBlue guys are working on a patch to fix possible causes and errors within the plugin.

Yup, it's a piece of crap. I installed the update and everything simply now freezes. It's impossible the edit videos anymore.

This product just bums me out.
