MF4DC - Copy Disc Freezes @ 98% Converting VR to DVD- Solved

Post by Jollygood »

I purchased Movie Factory 4 Disc Creator last week.

I have converted 3 x -RW VR Mode discs to -R DVD-Video discs so far with no problem.

Today when I try using "Copy Disc", then "DVD+/-VR to DVD Video" and I have the source as my DVD-Writer and the Destination as a "Disc Image File" as soon as I hit the "Copy" button my computer freezes and I have to restart it. (Control Alt Delete doesn't even work).

I have uninstalled and then re-installed the software but it has made no difference.

This morning I did manage to get as far as 98% Audio/Video Mixing (?)before it froze on MF4DC and I also tried it on my trial version (MF3DC) and that made it as far as 98% too.

But now it doesn't even let me get that far.

Any suggestions?

98% complete for Vid/Aud multiplexing then freezes

I've freed up some more space on my hard drive (15GB now free) and I now get as far as 98% complete for Video/Audio Multiplexing before it freezes.

Any suggestions on what I can try now?

What are your system specs? Sometimes, turning off programs running in the background, and unplugging external devices connected to your computer could help. Ulead also released a new update pack for MovieFactory 4.0. Check it out peeps!

I've installed the updates but it made no difference to what I am trying to do.
Systems Specs . . .hmmm. I'm not very technically minded / computer literate so I don't really know.
It runs with XP Professional version 2002 with Service Pack 2
DVD Writer is a Samsung Writemaster. No external devices.

Tried running it with no other programs open and closed down all unnecessary processes in "Task Manager"

Is there anything else you need to know?

Go to 'Control Panel', then click on the 'System' icon. You'll see your CPU speed (GHz or MHz) and your RAM. Then, open 'My Computer', then right click on your hard drive/s then click on 'Properties'. You'll see your disks' free and used space as well as the file system used (FAT32 or NTFS). :D

I just succesfully converted a VR mode disc to DVD-Video using Copy Disc by saving image to folder, and then copied from the folder to the disc.

Straight after that I tried another disc recorded in exactly the same way as the previous disc on my JVC DVD Recorder (DRM10) in VR Mode and it got to 98% Audio/ Video Multiplexing and froze my whole computer.

My neighbour who got version 3 bundled with other programs has a similar problem where it gets to 98% and then hangs (doesn't freeze his computer)

There must be something significant happening at 98%?

Here is what I did to fix my computer freezing most of the time at 98% when trying to convert VR Mode -RW disc to DVD-Video.

Download DVD-Decrypter

http://www.free-codecs.com/DVD_Decrypter_download.htm

Put –RW disc recorded in VR Mode in to disc drive

Open DVD Decrypter

Source: DVD Drive

Destintation: Folder in MY Video’s or wherever you want

Go to “Mode” and down to “ISO” and then across to “read”

Hit the big DVD picture button at the bottom.

This puts an .ISO file to your folder

Go to Movie Factory,

Copy Disc

Source: Folder (select ISO file)

Destination: Disc Drive (out in –R disc)

Start

This is now a VR mode –R disc in ISO format

When complete you can then take this disc and put it through Copy. Now again

Source: Disc in drive

Destination: Image File

File will now be in .ixb format

Then convert to DVD-Video using the .ixb file as source and disc as destination.
