On VideoStudio 2022 Ultimate for 64-bit Microsoft Windows 10 Education, whenever I click the "Capture" tab or attempt to either create or delete a media folder ("Edit" --> "Media" --> "Add a New Folder"), the application crashes.
I already have a ticket with tech support but haven't received a reply yet. Has anyone else had this same problem?
I have already repaired/reinstalled VideoStudio 2022 Ultimate, as well as tried disabling Microsoft Windows 10 Defender SmartScreen and Bitdefender Total Security Ransomware Remediation.

Re: VideoStudio 2022 crashes
Welcome to the forum.
I can't help you with your problem as I have no trouble creating and deleting a New Folder. Hopefully someone else will come on who has experienced this or has an idea which might help.
However, I just wanted to let others know that when you refer to 'Edit', it is the big Edit tab in the top centre of screen, not the smaller Edit beside File/Settings/Tools/Help in the top left of screen.

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro/Education/Enterprise has additional security settings not available to Windows 10 Home users.
I have not yet attempted a complete uninstall/reinstall (I only used the "repair" feature on the uninstaller) or re-downloading the installer file. I saw on another forum thread that the NewBlueFX extensions can prevent VideoStudio 2022 from running, but I haven't tried deleting those extensions yet either.
As the software is now, it appears to be usable as long as I do not use the "Capture" tab or use any media folders. Not being able to use media folders could make it difficult to manage video projects though.
Otherwise I have to return the Photo/Video Bundle Ultimate under the 30-day money-back guarantee and subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud instead, but I really don't want to do that.
Thanks for the reply. I can't find much info in the Windows error logs. It appears more like the application is closing when attempting certain actions, as opposed to actually crashing per se. I had wondered if maybe it was a security setting preventing VideoStudio 2022 from running but I tried disabling some of the security settings with no change.Ken Berry wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 1:35 am Welcome to the forum.

Re: VideoStudio 2022 crashes
Hi
When you did a full re-installation did you also run the Cleanup tool which may remove any other leftovers that Program and Features do not remove.
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=59847
When you install Video Studio do you use the default location on the C drive?
Also there is a folder which is used to reset the program here:-
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\25.0
Can you rename the 25.0 folder to 25.0_old
Running VS again will generate a new folder rebuilding the library.
If you wish to return to original, rename again, or delete 25.0_old
(F6) Preferences – Performance tab
Please deselect all acceleration options to see if that improves things.

Still no change. VideoStudio 2022 Ultimate crashes when clicking "Capture" or attempting to rename or delete a media folder. It does not crash when creating a new media folder --- only when trying to rename or delete the media folder. Since it is able to create new folders, I don't think this is a problem with the operating system or antimalware security settings. Running the application as Windows Administrator also does not prevent the crashes.
Troubleshooting steps attempted:
a) uninstall VideoStudio
b) VideoStudio 2022 Clean-Up Tool --- https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=59847
c) remove temporary files using Windows Disk Cleanup
d) manually delete files from %temp% --- https://kb.corel.com/en/128313
e) manually remove additional system files left over from VideoStudio (Clean-Up Tool does not remove everything)
f) reinstall VideoStudio
g) rename 25.0 to 25.0_old in %APPDATA% for Ulead

Hi
Very strange indeed....
Just to confirm did you try deselecting the Acceleration options from Preferences (F6) – Performance
I know you have re-installed a few times but can you do again, first use the cleanup tool to remove the program.
When installing choose the Custom option to deselect all but the Main Program to install.
Test the program, then running the installer again – Custom to install the Contents folders.
Test the program, run installer to install Bonus Features
Now you should have the program fully installed, although there are other free content via the welcome screen store, once you get it working without crashing that is.

Installing just the base program without extras did not resolve anything.

Hi
Just wondered if Corel / Alludo support have been back to you suggesting a fix for this problem.
