Insert VideoStudio MyDVD disk message

Post by bjtap1 »

For some unkown reason I have started to get an 'InsertVideoStudioMyDVD disk' popup message on my screen. I cannot dismiss it my selecting either OK or Cancel as it just reappears again. A second screen pops up right in the middle of the screen that cannot be dismissed or moved. I do not and have not had VideoStudioMyDVD installed for quite a while now. Any ideas on how to prevent these pop-ups? It does not matter if VideoStudio Ultimate 2022 is running or not. As a matter of fact I was not using VS Ultimate at all when these popups appeared.
Things I tried: reboot and two different registry cleaners. Please see attachment.
Thanks, Barry

Hi bjtap1
Your profile shows using VS 2021, the post refers to VS 2022.
Do you know which version of MyDVD the error messages are referring to?
If you do not have VS 2021 installed I would suggest that you download and run VS 2021 cleanup tool, this should remove any leftovers from VS 2021 including MyDVD.

When you removed MyDVD did you use Program and Features to uninstall. It is difficult to identify the version MyDVD 2021 or MyDVD 2022 within P&F.
The installation files for MyDVD are under the \64bit\StandardContent, you may have to install this pack again to repair MyDVD, ( run the setup_CHD.exe file) then uninstalling via Program and Features should work ok.

The installed MyDVD files / folder should be here:-
C:\Program Files\VideoStudio MyDVD 2021
C:\Program Files\VideoStudio MyDVD 2022

If you cannot fix these errors I would think a re-installation of your Video Studio programs is on the cards.
Again use Program and Features then run the Cleanup tools to remove any leftovers.

After a few back and forths with support I received:
"Regarding your concern, There was a mishap with the myDVD app from VideoStudio -- it was never removed completely. this is a registry fix so kindly make use of the below link to remove the registry,
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=59847
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions".

The link is to the VideoStudio CleanUp Tools. So today, I ran several back versions of these tools twice. Will see if that did fix the problem.
Tevor: Thanks for pointing out my profile was out of date... I have updated it.

It does appear that MyDVD has not been fully uninstalled, the messages only refers to MyDVD and not any particular version, so could be 2021 or 2022, unless you have had other versions installed.

I would manually install MyDVD for both 2021 and 2022.
The installation files are within the program downloads here:- \64bit\StandardContent\MyDVD
Running the file "MyDVD_Setup.exe" for both versions may repair the programs, allowing us to uninstall hopefully correctly.

I also have the free version of Revo which has a Hunter mode, we select a desktop shortcut and Revo does the rest. Uninstalls the program followed by a scan for leftovers, I would be using that option.

Thanks Trevor,
I have taken your previous advice and totally uninstalled VSUltimate 2022. (I was hesitant to do so before because I was working on a project which I smart packaged).
I uninstalled using Revo, deleted every Corel, VideoStudio, and MyDVD file I could find and ran the cleanup tool two times for the previous 5 versions. Ran registry cleaners several times (two registry cleaner programs). So far, and it has not been much time, it appears the problem is gone. We shall see.
Thanks for your input. Barry
