I think the question being posed by the OP is how this might affect the future of PSP. I.E., Will it go to subscription? If not, will future development happen and, if so, actual development that adds real enhancements rather than a couple of cosmetic modifications? At the moment, I'm going to make sure that my preferred version is safely backed up!

These are of course questions which affect all of us, but at the moment I am not at all sure we will know anything until they spring something on us. It would be nice to think that an idea might be floated and comments on it sought. But I suspect that is unlikely to happen for fear of negative results in any survey.
