Hi all
I use videostudio21 ultimate which works quite well on my win 11. Recently after I have created a DVD disc, the software refuses to close even when I use Task manager it says I do not have permission and It just sites there going nowhere!
The only option I have is to shut down my pc and restart to get rid of Video studio?
Any one out there got ideas as to why?
Thanks

Re: Video studio ultimate freeze
Hi Deggs45
Welcome to the forums
From your description I would think this is a Win 11 operating system issue.
I doubt Video Studio has the means to override Task Managers End Task process
Are you running the pc as Administrator.
Alt+ F4 should also close the program.
Does Video Studio freeze or is it still working.
Can this problem be replicated or was it a one off.
When you say Video Studio 21 are you referring to Video Studio 2018

Re: Video studio ultimate freeze
It's defo coral videostudio 21 ultimate. The programme works great does editing and burns to disc, the window that stays open is the one that says DVD disc completed, I can use the pc open other software but studio just locked in place, unable to close it down, even the taskmaster says I don't have the rights to close it?? It does it with every DVD I do now.

Re: Video studio ultimate freeze
Its strange why Task Manager refuses to allow you to close the program, I cannot understand how Video Studio could affect that, the reason why i asked about running as admin.
I can only suggest you try re-installing the program, certainly that is what i would try.
If you need to retain the library, export the library as a backup to import after installation.
First i would try resetting the program by re-naming the 21.0 folder, some info here

Re: Video studio ultimate freeze
Trevor -- I really suspect Deggs45 has VS 2021 and not 21. As you say, version 21 is in fact VS 2018. It's crazy the confusion caused by Corel's naming system. But the current version VS 2022 is, as we know, really version 25. So if Deggs45 really does have VS 2021 it would be version 24. But of course it doesn't help that Corel has in the past four or five years called its product by the year it appears, rather than its actual version number.
If Deggs 45 is actually seeing 21 on screen when the program opens, then it will be VS (20)21. Or he can go to Help > About, and again he would see VS 2021.
Deggs should also first check in C:\Users\[HisName]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) to see if there is a folder 24 or 21. If he only has one version loaded, then that number would tell us exactly which version it is.

Re: Video studio ultimate freeze
Thanks Ken
At least Video Studio 2022 refers to the year of release, but is 2022 the version or is the version 25
Paintshop Pro latest is 2023 clearly that has to be a version as we have not reached the year 2023.
Yes confusing.
For me 2022 is the version not 25
Corel also refer to the versions as the 2022 format
https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/pages/download/
When Deggs45 shows VS 21 I am assuming 2018, not that the version matters as I do not think its relevant in this case, just good to know.
As you say Help - About would comfirm

Re: Video studio ultimate freeze
My point, though, was that unless he knows and understands the strange Corel numbering system, when he opened whatever program he has, Deggs45 would not see "21" anywhere. He might see "2021" in the splash screen or he might see "2018" -- but he couldn't see just "VideoStudio 21". The only place he could actually see just 21 would be in C:\Users\[HisName]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) if it is there.
