Installing PSP on external hard drive
Can PaintShop Pro 2022 be fully installed on an external hard drive? And what would be the requirements for that HD? Or are some parts of PSP still going to be installed on your C drive?

Re: Installing PSP on external hard drive
Unsure, never tried. However, there are lots of topics about attempting this on here.
PSP puts data in at least 3 locations: 1) C:\Program Files\ 2) C:\ProgramData\ and 3) C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\YOUR_VERSION_#
1) When installing you can choose where the default program goes, so #1 is fine.
2) You have two options....I think. It's a bit fuzzy in my head. I believe you can change the programdata folder location on a per user basis in the registry. I might be remembering that wrong, but as I said I don't really do this. Or you can create a link (junction) folder to auto-link the C:\ProgramData folder to another drive location. If you're the only user, then the registry would be fine.
3) This location should default to wherever Windows says your User folder is located. So if you've already set Windows to put your user profile on another drive PSP should auto-put user resources on that drive. Otherwise you need to manually set this in the registry.

Re: Installing PSP on external hard drive
I actually did a search for it here and nothing helpful came up - I was obviously not putting in the correct words to ask.
Anyway thank you so much for your reply.
This is not for me, but for one of my students. And as I have never done it or even attempted it, I thought I would get the details before giving her an answer.
I knew that PSP put stuff in 3 places, but wasn't sure if you could override this.
It sounds to me like it is going to be a bit too complicated for her though - she has trouble installing fonts.
I will look a little further and also wait to see if anyone else who maybe has done this can shed some light on it for me.
Again thank you so much for the reply
