Paintshop Pro Ult 2023 upgrade sign in errors

Post by gm3suz »

I have installed the 2023 upgrade to my Paintshop Pro Ult 2021 program but I cannot get past the sign in process, I keep getting errors saying please connect to
the internet to sign in but I am already signed in to the internet. I contacted Corel support, they asked me to delete the program, use a cleaning program that they supplied to me, to make sure I had deleted the program correctly and then re-install. I have done this several times but nothing has changed. Corel support say it must be an antivirus or other program that is not allowing me to sign on. I have uninstalled my McAfee but that made no difference. Microsoft have a guardian program and I have found a listing on this showing all the programs on my PC and their permission to allow them access to this PC but I cannot find any mention of any Corel products, my PSP 2021 runs with no problems. I am stuck, my skill level is such that I cannot go much further. I noticed that someone using a similar Corel product 2022 had a similar problem but I could not find out if it was solved. Is there any way to bypass this sign on screen ? Thanks for your time, Dan in Port Glasgow

After installing PSP 2023, do you get to the registration screen i.e. where it asks for your email, country etc? If so, does the dialogue box also have a small sentence saying something like "I already have a Corel account" followed by a check box? And if you tick that box and press Enter, does the dialogue box become smaller, with just your email address and it asks for your password? (Hopefully, the email address will be the same email you use to log into Corel.com. The email for logging into this forum will not work if it is different from the Corel.com one.) And after filling in the password and pressing Enter again, does it thank you and allow the program to open this time?

You don't have any leftover firewall entries, do you?
Some people use a firewall to stop the advertisements. I'm not saying you did, but it's just a thought.

You could try temporarily disabling Windows Firewall (or any third party firewall) just to see if that's the cause.

When I try to Log on I get a log on screen with 4 lines, the bottom one is the country. It asks me if I have an account with Corel, I say Yes and it reduces to two lines, my e mail address and my password. I fill this in and it immediately returns to the 4 lines screen and says please connect to the internet in red letters at the bottom of the screen. I am already connected to the internet. I fill in the 4 lines including the country and I then get an error which says Error: Unknown error. I have deleted my McAfee anti virus program and disabled the Microsoft anti virus program but still no luck. I am not a computer expert can someone explain in plain language how I can bypass this sign on screen, PLEASE, Thank You

The email address on that 4 line screen must be the email address you use to access www.corel.com -- not the email you use to access this forum if it is different. You register your programs on www.corel.com and that is what it is after.

I have tried resetting my password to make sure that I am using the right password to log on but to no avail, I get Unknown error or the message Please connect to the internet. Surely someone must have had this error before. I have removed the program and used the cleaning program and re-installed the program, several times, then reinstalled it but nothing works.

FWIW I just happened to register another new Corel program about 10 minutes ago (Corel Painter Essentials). After installing, I got the 4 line dialogue box and the button saying "I already have an account" or words to that effect. I pressed that. Then inserted my Corel.com account and associated password, then pressed the Continue button. Oddly enough, this time it came up with a message saying either the email or password was incorrect. That was not true for either as I was careful to insert what I always insert in that dialogue box. But I tried another password (the one used to get into this forum). It was rejected too, which I expected. Then I reinserted the original password. And this time it worked. So something strange may be going on at the Corel server end...

I already had Paintshop Pro 2023 Ultimate installed, and had already gone through the sign in dialog when first installed. However, today it started popping up again, and it refuses logins with my credentials. I get "Error: Unknown error" no matter what I do. It no longer lets me use the program, which puts me in a pickle because I am in a deadline to deliver a job. I went to my account at Corel and logged in, and it accepts it with no issues. I have double-checked that the program was already registered. It's just PSP 2023 that just today started to reject it. I was using the program earlier today, and it was still Ok, so something has changed.

I hope Corel will resolve this SOON because this is ridiculous. It's blocking me from using the program when it was already registered. They probably have server problem.

Kathy -- apart from reporting the foregoing, including the last post after you said you had reported it, Corel should also be aware that others are reporting similar occurrences in other forums e.g. Video Studio -- see for example https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=395229#p395229 That also includes reference to my own slightly strange experience in Paint Essentials earlier today.

Some Video Studio users had similar registration issues that Corel recommended deleting the messages, If it is a server / messages issue then it could affect other programs not just Video Studio,

I looked up the malwarebytes program firewall and then allowed PSP 2023 upgrade to pass through the firewall, I am reluctant to uninstall malwarebytes because I may have to pay for it again when I re-install it. I will look at the latest entry and try that tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
