They are now different workspaces in PSP (Complete, Essentials, Photography,...). I suggest that you switch to the Complete workspace (go to File/Workspaces).
And in File/Preferences/General Program Preferences, under Tabs, check Keep last view.
In the top Menu, go to 'Window' and uncheck Tabbed Documents.

Purchased the upgrade yesterday, apparently there's no 32-bit version anymore?! So, I can't scan within PSP via Twain anymore?! Do new printers/all-in-ones get shipped with 64-bit Twain drivers?

Some newish printer/scanners do have 64 bit TWAIN drivers, though not all of them. So you would need to check with the manufacturer for your specific machine.

If I want to scan with TWAIN these days, I have kept my PSP 2022 installed and use TWAIN in the 32 bit version of that. However, even with PSP 2022 I got into the habit of not using TWAIN but Import from scanner or camera. It does not come up with as comprehensive an interface as the TWAIN one, but nonetheless allows me to scan and acquire an image which can then be touched up by the main PSP program if necessary.

I like that the Autosave is back to 5 minutes, other than that no difference that I can tell from other recent 64-bit versions.

BUG:
"3D effects"
When created on new layer, this layer is created _below_ current layer, instead of _above_

hence, effect is not visible.

Missing - feature (Since Jasc's psp7)

Pixel - exact selection size

Many times, you just need to set the exact size of your selection... this I missing since a long time... (In fact, I'm using psp7 for this)

What i Like <3

They finally fix dialogs, so they're usable, on settings that have "scale 150%" as system resolution.
That's awesome, thanks so much to developers.

Thanks, Jean -Luc,
But tell me... how do you just set a 230 x 340 selection doing that?
good with maths to make the substraction on your mind?
The missing issue here is PSP telling you te resulting selection rectangle size

I upgraded purely for the RAW editing possibilities within PSP 2023. Sadly to find that my camera lense was not profiled and therefore RAW images opened with barrelling and vignette correction did nothing apart from lighten the image. The answer from Tech Support was "I'm sorry that the lens option is not available for the Panasonic DMC-FZ300". Now that camera is fairly common and using other Raw Editors it was accepted and the lense recognized immediately (LEICA DC-VARIO-ELMARIT 1:2.8/4.5-108 ASPH). In fairness to Corel the support was excellent and a refund has been agreed. I will still use PSP 2022 for my Jpeg editing.

Found that it was about time to change my X9 version for 2023, thanks to black Friday sale. My first impression, what's the difference with my 5 years old version: absolutely nothing, apart from the fact that it is about 5 times slower. I will still need that one to use my +/- 150 filters.

All too true. I am looking at the black friday special price for PSP2023 and wondering if I need to pay up. My last 3 upgrades have been only to get support for larger file sizes and bug fixes likely needed for operating system changes... I have tried some new features, but they do not seem to offer ANY value for my work, although I use PSP daily in my photo art, and other artwork.

And the fact that preferences and plugins all have to be reset, reinstalled, etc. every upgrade every year is just mind boggling! Clearly many of the preferences and features remain the same every year, and that Corel cannot create a standard format to save or to export and selectively import preference settings for so called upgrades is terribly frustrating. I have lost so many saved patterns & brushes, etc. over the years, between new PSP version and system problems!

It just feels as if I am paying for frustration and a few hours of my own time to get a new version to be useful to me, with the only benefit being nominal support...

Yet I still really do like the parts of the editing software... once I reset my workspace, my preferences, etc.

So will I buy in to 2023? Maybe...
Zantara wrote: Fri Aug 05, 2022 9:57 am I have been using PSP since version 5, when it was still Jasc.
I never skipped a version.
From this version onward, Corel has lost a loyal customer.
The new PSP has nothing new to offer.

I write about PSP for the Dutch speaking PSP community who use it for creative creations only. There are a lot of websites and groups who write creative tutorials.
By making PSP completely 64-bits, they will lose that community as they are still using a lot of the old plugins.
There is also a considerable international community of creative tutorial writers who still use the 32-bits plugins in their work. And even 16-bits.

It was probably inevitable that PSP would become 64-bits only.
For photo editing it is the way forward.
I have been using 64-bits PSP for a while now, but the versions I have, will do me fine.
There is absolutely no incentive for me to buy PSP 2023.

I wouldn't underestimate the amount of loyal buyers who, from now on, will stick to their older versions until they work no more. Unless Corel really re-invents PSP, which seems unlikely.
PSP is still subscription free and Corel is moving towards the subscription models. They recently acquired a cloud service. The new CEO sees the subscription model as the way forward.

It is the end of an era, I think.
