VideoStudio X8

Post by Extreme_Typhon_H »

Be nice, I'm a true beginner with Corel VideoStudio X8.

I'm trying to follow YouTube videos on how to do Zoom features etc. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI-gQ76kdN8)

When the YT video gets to 1:59 minutes (https://youtu.be/vI-gQ76kdN8?t=119) the tutor talks about a box on the left image which has a box inside the image boundary with drag points in the corners (See my image. The lines were too faint to see clearly, so I've drawn them in pink with yellow drag boxes). I'm simply not getting the drag box frame! It was there when I first tried the programme, so I must have clicked on something by mistake to hide the said lines, grrr. How do I make good please?

Thanks in advance :)

Welcome to the forums

I am not on my pc at the moment but are you sure you are using the Video Pan & Zoom
Your attached image is not very clear but i think shows Motion Zoom which applies a filter to give the impression of motion.

You have applied the "Zoom Motion" filter and not the "Video Pan and Zoom" filter used in the tutorial. Hence, replace the "Zoom Motion" filter with the "Video Pan and Zoom" filter and you'll see the box frame.

Thank you for spotting my error. You were right, I was using 'Zoom Motion' rather than 'Video Pan and Zoom'. I now have the hatched box frame :)

There are other options to manipulate our clips, a little more than just Pan and Zoom
Right click your clip for Customise Motion, a little more involved but does allow us to zoom, pan, fade, rotate, certainly I think worth the effort to master this tool.
