preset cropped area?

Post by Screwball »

I have a project that require identical dimensions of many images. Is it possible to determine or create a preset frame size so that every image I crop (or snip) is same size e.g. 400 x 250 px. In other words, if I have an image that is maybe 700 x 500, is there a way I can move a preset frame of 400 x 250 around the image to select an area of the image to 'cut-out'? I realise I can do it freehand but it is time consuming and not precise. Appreciate your guidance.

Yes, with the Crop tool active, ignore the floating crop toolbar and look at the Tool Options Palette at the top of the screen. You'll see an area for Pixel Dimensions. Here you can set the strict pixel size of 400x250. You can then save this as one of the presets that's available in the Crop Toolbar. Here are the steps.

1) Go to the tool options palette and set the Pixel Dimensions

2) Also on the Tool Options Paleete, click on the "Preset" button to open the Presets drop-down menu. To the left, highlighted in dark colors in this image, is a Save icon. Click that and give your preset a name, I accepted the dfault

3) Now you can see the preset is available in the crop toolbar presets drop-down for quick and easy access.

Hi, this sounds exactly what I need but you must be using a different edition to me as I cannot find same options as you, primarily 'presets'. I am using PSP 7

Are you using PSP 7 (Jasc) or PSP X7 (Corel)? Your profile says you are using X6 so a little confusing.

Also, your post notification emails are bouncing back to our server with the following message:

With Jasc 7 (not PSP X7) your only option for precision is to click on the "Crop Settings" button in the tool Options palette.

1) On the tool options palette click the "Crop Settings" button

2) In the dialog that pops up use 0 for the top and left, and set the right and bottom to 400x250. This will give you the crop rectangle you want, then just drag it where you want it and crop.

It's still slow, but it's far more precise than just estimating by dragging it out.
