Is the sound by any chance Dolby 5.1? Right click one of the clips on the VS timeline and check in Properties. Corel in their wisdom (NOT!) have dropped support for Dolby 5.1 in VS 2021 and 2022 for Win 10 users, though dual channel stereo Dolby should still be OK. (For Win 7, no Dolby at all -- either 5.1 or dual channel -- is permitted).
If you are in this situation, try using a video conversion program like the freeware Handbrake, and produce a new mp4 but with the audio converted to something else other than Dolby.
