Getting nowhere slowly with support.

Find below (in quotes) my last email to Corel support regarding VS 2022 Ultimate. (today)
Problem: started silent crashing on startup. Worked well for several weeks.

The email below was sent AFTER I told support I did the following items and that did NOT fix the problem.
Their response was to tell me that based on my last contact (saying it did not work) and they closed the case. Huh???
I reopened another case referring back to the closed case and received the same instructions as before.

"I thank you for the response but once again it appears to be a case of
support not reading my contacts and asking me to do the same things
over again.
1) I already installed the updated intel driver, 2) I already renamed
the appdata three times despite the lack of instructions on how to do
so, 3) I already used ctrl-shift to launch program multiple times, 4)
I already uninstalled and reinstalled the program, and 5) I already
uninstalled and reinstalled the program using the Corel cleanup tool".

So, I am open to any help and suggestions. Thanks, Barry

Hi Barry
Sorry you are having problems running VS 2022
Are you trying to run the program from the Start Menu / 2022 desktop icon, or trying to open using a VSP project file.
I assume the splash screen shows for a while then simply disappears.
When you try to run the program again does the splash screen show or you get nothing.
Do you get any error messages, I assume no.

Did Corel Support ask you to delete the messages folder contents.
I know of 2 folders
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages
This folder is hidden by the operating system so you need to show hidden items, or %appdata% in the search.
and here
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Messages

And I do not have any real reason to try this, but can you disconnect your internet, then try running VS 2022

Given that VS 2022 used to work for you, something must have changed either the program or your setup.
Windows 10 are you running the latest version, can you check for updates I see my version as 21H1 home edition.

Trevor: Thanks for the reply. Answers:
1) I have tried launching in all three ways mentioned above. 2) The splash screen loads and disappears as normal but the program silently crashes (no messages) after about 5 seconds or so. 3) Support did not ask me to delete the 'messages'. I did so as per your instructions, no change. 4) I tried launching with internet connection disconnected, no change. 5) Windows 10 is updated... I even checked today. No updates available. 6) Possible change made to computer: I installed (and since uninstalled) NewBlue Complete FX for Magix. NewBlue has caused problems with Cyberlink PowerDirector. My uninstalls and reinstalls of VS Ultimate 2022 were done after removing the NewBlue FX. I cannot state for sure there was a direct correlation with the NewBlue and silent crashing.

Hi
There have been issues with installing New Blue that affected Video Studio
View this folder
C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\uninstallers

Uninstalling seemed to work for some users but this has to be done in a particular order
1 / re-install Video Studio, do not run the program
2 / from the above folder --- Uninstall Newblue by running the .exe files
Launch Video Studio, hopefully that will get you up and running.

Once again thanks. I am in the process of following the two steps above. I have uninstalled and will reinstall without running VP 2022 Ultimate. Problem is there is no 'uninstallers' in C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\uninstallers. The path works until uninstallers i.e. I have C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\ then 7 folders and an xml document called InstallationStatusFile. A search inside the 7 folders did not find 'uninstallers'.

Install Video Studio 2022, do not run, check the “C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\uninstallers” folder
If you have no new blue uninstaller files then VS has not installed Newblue and thats a little strange..
When you install the program do you choose “custom” to show a list of installation packs.
All should be selected, do any have a flag indicating ”installed” for any packs.

I would uninstall Video Studio.
Then download the installation packages as new, simply choose a new empty download file location.
Or you can delete the original downloads, to download again.

Choose Download only, then install the program again using custom to install the main program only.
If Video Studio runs then install the other packs Content and Bonus Features

Forgive me for intruding on this post but I have exactly the same problem as Barry so I have been following with interest. I too have tried all the steps you list without success. My last effort was to remove all traces of VideoStudio 2022 and then installing the packages one at a time.

1. Installed just the "Main Program" - ran the program OK - I could access all the main (Welcome) screen items.
2. installed the "Standard Content" - ran the program OK, again I could access all the main screen items.
3. Installed the "Bonus Features" - ran the program - main (Welcome) screen just disappeared after a few seconds.

Went through the process again - the problem happens only after I load the "Bonus Features".

and welcome to the forums.
Thanks for the installation details, it does seem to be one of the Bonus Apps hence my reason for suggesting installing the main program.
We know there were issues with Newblue so maybe they are within Bonus Features.
Fortunately for me i have no problems running Video Studio 2022 which makes it difficult to replicate any issues.
I have not installed any extra NB , only the ones that come with the program.

When i say no problems – with VS 2022 installed my VSX10 will not run.
I have a workround, by running Fast Flick I can choose to edit in Video Studio, X10 then runs ok, strange, uninstall 2022 and X10 runs ok.

You both seem to have mostly solved the problem. I reinstalled the program and regular content. VS2022 Ultimate opened and ran well. Since I still had the bonus content previously downloaded, I installed the ProDad content: that is Mercalli, Adorage and Vitascene. VS2022 still continued to run okay with this. The only problem I saw was the overwhelming majority of the Adorage content was not available because of 'can't load image file' error, essentially rendering Adorage useless. (Any thoughts on how to cure this problem)?
I did not attempt to install anything in the NewBlue Effects, FXUlt, or TitlerPro5 folders. So now it seems I have VS2022 Ultimate back at the expense of Adorage and some NewBlue.
Apparently, (I have not tried all yet), NewBlue Elements, Stylizers, Essentials, and Filters loaded with the standard content and seem to work okay. So, thanks to you both.

Go to the welcome screen, store, look for free content, adorage 9 and 13.
These should install extras to the adorage gallery.

Well Trevor,
You have done it again and thanks. Most of the Adorage is available. (Still quite a few 'can't load image' errors, but not nearly as much as before.
Now answer this: Why didn't I think of this? Second thought... don't answer. (grin)
Thanks again Trevor, I am back to editing a project now. (I fortunately thought of saving my VSP files)

Video Studio 2021 downloaded installation files are quite large, to reduce the size for 2022 some files have been removed, being made available from the Welcome screen. (At least i believe thats the reason ) Yes Corel could have made us more aware.

Not all use Adorage so would not notice, also as the Adorage gallery is shared with earlier versions, should you have one of those installed you would not need the extra files, so these only affect VS 2022 installed on its own.
Can you tell me which show “can't load image' errors” and i will have a look, although I do have earlier versions installed.

Volume 10: Globe 01, 06-08; SD 01, 06-08; Worldmap 02-08 etc. They all seem to be in Vol 10. With the reinstall of 9 and 13, while I did not test each and every one, they (9&13) do not have the 'can't load images' error. None of my other installed video editors have Adorage so an earlier (or another) installation cannot be affecting the Corel installation.

I've spent the past few days bouncing emails back and forth with Corel Support about the problem of VideoStudio disappearing just after loading - none of their suggestions worked until TODAY!

I was asked to look at this link from 2016 -

The suggestion was to load only the main program then find and run -

"Setup_CHD.exe" and "Setup_Bonus.exe" (I found them by typing the names into the Windows START / Search box).

These appear to load the "Standard Content" and "Bonus Features" (which include "Adorage", "Mercalli" and "Vitascene".

After running the above the program loads and appears stable.

I do not have Volume 10 within any of my programs going back to X9 so cannot really help with the missing images.
If its any help my Adorage shows as version 3.0.135
