Video masking does not track movement in VideoStudio 2022 Ultimate.
First, the tolerance for creating a mask for each frame automatically is very poor. Even with a clearly distinct mask shape.
Note the pic. This is a screen grab of an overhead drone shot of a lighthouse.

I'm attempting to change the color of the water... make it less toxic green. When opening Mask Creator to mask the lighthouse from the water, each frame needs major adjustment - at highest Edge Tolerance. This is a very time consuming task.
But the biggest annoyance is that the mask does not move with the object. Yet it appears to work while in Mask Creator and moving frame by frame. In the Mask Creator view, each mask is perfectly aligned and move with the image. But when you Play, or Save it, it remains stuck. This image shows how the mask did not follow the upward pan of the image.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get the motion to function?

Re: Video masking does not track movement in VideoStudio 2022 Ultimate
Hi
I have tried creating a mask to follow a circle moving over my test video
I know in the past that the detect movement has always been poor
Using 2022 “Detect Movement and adjust to end of clip” option failing to scan the frames similar effect to your description.
I then used 2021 which seemed to work ok although does take a very long time to complete, then I hit OK
Back on the timelines the mask is placed on the overlay track, I was then able to change the top track background colours.
Returning back to 2022 and this time the Detect Object progress bar showed, again a long time to complete, much longer than 2021, I do not know why the first attempt failed, unless I had not selected the full circle.
How far are you getting….. Once you have created the mask
Did you choose “Detect Movement and adjust to end of clip”
After creating the mask select the large arrow / pointer , left hand masking tool bar
This activates the keyframes and to the right Detect Movement options
Middle icon “Detect Movement and adjust to end of clip”
I would imagine your video will be harder to scan than my test video / circle on a clean background, only 8 seconds duration.
If you cannot get this working can you provide a sample, you would have to upload to a sharing site, providing a link here, we can give it a go.

I am also having some problems in Save As which creates a UISX file, ( Ulead Image Sequence File) it should also create a PNG image of every keyframe, for me this is not happening using both 2021 and 2022,
Pressing Ok however should return to the timelines placing a clip on the overlay track with a working mask.

Re: Video masking does not track movement in VideoStudio 2022 Ultimate
Thank you for your reply and suggestions. I have found that the feature, for all practical purposes, is broken beyond usage. Whenever I try to save a mask, it asks for a .UIS file (Ulead Image Sequence), which is non-existent. It is not created. Apparently, it should be. However, you can go to Custom and Save As a UIS. It creates a series of BMP files for each frame. Then, open each in your fav image editor and remove the area for the mask, image by image. Then import each new image in sequence. Massive waste of time. But it gets the job done.
After much research, the built in function is another sales gimmick the folks at Corel threw in to get us to upgrade. Since Ulead, it's always been over-promise, under-deliver with this development team. Hence my lack of desire to upgrade to version 2022. But I tried as you suggested, opening the segment in VS2020 and VS2021, but that feature also does not deliver the output intended in either version. The only fast way to do this effect is to use the Chroma Key, tho it is a poor substitute.
