I have been using PSP since version 9 ... and I have never encountered this problem before
I am using PSP 2020 as I am afraid to upgrade as versions since 2017 have been getting progressively worse
Today I was working with a set of images ... and at one point the foreground was pure white ... and the background was pure red
Now ... every time I change the foreground and background colors ... every time I change tools ... the colors revert back to white and red ... this is making the product unusable
I have done a REPAIR ... and am now doing a reinstall
Is there some setting that I accidentally set that locks the foreground and background colors?

This is PSP Ultimate 64-bit
It also persists with multiple image types (.JPG ... .PNG etc)
I first tried resetting the environment ... then reset all of my preference / workspace manually (no import) ... the problem persists
After uninstalling an reinstalling (and keeping my old settings) ... the problem still persists
Next I did a full uninstall ... and then reinstall ... and restored all of my preferences and workspace ... This time ... it seems to have worked
For the future ... does anyone have any suggestions? ... I tried exporting the database as this one works ... but it wont allow me to export with the program open

So, first question is do you have "All tools" turned on or off?
On the Materials Palette, there is a checkbox that has been there since version 9. "All tools" this checkbox will determine if the color you choose in the materials palette applies to all tools, or if each tool has its own last used colors.
