Hi
Trying to edit some recordings but getting the audio going out of sync even before I edit these files in VS Ultimate 2022. The original file runs in sync when played out with VS. But when I run in VS on preview it slowly goes out of sync with sound running ahead of video. I wondered if just a preview thing but when I output the files the mismatch is there in the MP-4. By 2 minutes in it's about a second faster although in the opening few seconds there is no noticeable difference. I have tried smart render when loading file in reducing output file size etc but no difference
File type is
MP4
H264 High Profile Video
Frame Rate 58.466/sec
Attributes: 24 Bit 1920x1200
Duration 334.605sec (19563 frames, 1.28Gb)
Audio
MPEG AAC Audio
Attributes: 48000 Hz 16Bit Stereo
Bitrate 96Kbps
Total Samples 16062625
My gear is a i5 6500 with 32Gb memory and crappy proprietary HP mobo. Has a Geforce GTX 1650 and primary drive a Samsung EVO 860 1 TB SS. Running windows 10 pro. Using a corsair USB headphone DAC but get same issue when just use onboard sound card directly
I tried the same file with adobe premier rush, the audio also deysncs a little but runs slightly slower than the video in preview which is what I'd expect.

You have an unusual frame rate, perhaps due to recording on cellphone. Suggest converting your clip to a standard frame rate that VS can better handle.bigalid wrote: Frame Rate 58.466/sec

As tletter has suggested, Video Studio has difficulty editing video which has non-standard frame rates. Indeed, in many cases it won't play them at all. In this case VS will be using a video frame rate of 59.94 frames per second as that is one of the standard frame rates it recognises. (Standard NTSC plays at 29.97 and 59.94 fps, often evened out to 30 and 60.) Your video is playing at something else and its audio will get a bit ahead of the video.
Given that your video actually plays in VS, I am wondering whether you get a message when you insert the first clip into a new project using that video, asking if you want the Project Properties to match those of the video. (You would need to make sure that in Preferences > General the box against "Show message when inserting first clip into timeline" is ticked.) That may or may not fix your problem.
However, tletter has already given you the reply we usually give in this situation -- to put your video through a video converter (some of us here use the freeware Handbrake) to produce a new video with similar properties but using the standard frame rate. Then insert the new video into VS for editing.

Thank you both, handbrake worked once I realised I needed to force chapters off. The video was recorded by Geforce screen capture - I'll drop the speed to 30fps in the future
