turn portrait video into landscape

I am using VideoStudio 2021 and the User Guide on Page 7, which indicates I can turn portrait videos into landscape.

"New! Instant Project templates Save yourself time and energy by recreating popular video styles in minutes with new Instant Project templates. Simply select a template, drag and drop your video, and you're ready for export! You can reproduce popular viral clips, add themed video openers, turn portrait videos into landscapes, replicate marketing promo templates, and so much more. I found old youtube instructions, but not the 2021 version, I cannot figure out how to set it up, and page 49 onwards has been no help.


Does anyone know a procedural way to do it?

Not sure about the User Guide as I only have 2022 installed

Changing portrait to landscape, 2 basic options
Zoom in to the portrait frame to fill the landscape background, you will lose details from top and bottom of your video, I doubt that will be acceptable.
Add your portrait video (1080 x 1920) to a Landscape background 1920 x 1080 and you will have black borders left and right. ( similar effect to Picture in Picture
If we add an FX background blur filter, that will fill the border with similar colours as video uses a reasonable effect.
You could of course add your own background by inserting the portrait to the overlay track, resize to fit, the add images to the top track.

There are a few portrait templates within the templates library / Portrait to Landscape, one shows using 3 portrait clips within the landscape frame, probably more suitable for images and slide shows
