Lightning area in photo?

Lightning area in photo?
Is it possible to lighten an area in a photo, not the entire photo which I know how to do? For example, if one face is a bit dark or low contrast, can either or both of those be modified without changing the entire photo? I do not see anything describing how to do that in the manual or anywhere on-line. Many thanks.

Try the Darken/Lighten Brush.

There's a couple different ways, this is the method I prefer using.ralphedel wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 7:52 pm Is it possible to lighten an area in a photo, not the entire photo which I know how to do? - Duplicate the background layer
- Adjust the duplicate (via adjustment layer or just directly adjusting the brightness & contrast) to correct the area you want to adjust
- If you used an adjustment layer, merge it with the duplicate
- Apply a show all or hide all (depends on whether the adjustment area is bigger or smaller than the rest of the image) mask to the duplicate layer
- Use black & white paint brush on the mask to hide/reveal only the parts of the adjusted layer that you want
