Sync audio and video in the timeline

Post by MatthewKinLA »

Good day everyone! I am glad to found a forum and hope my questions won't be too rudimentary for everyone! I have a question about SYNCING imported video from an iPhone with Audio tracks. Current process is

1) Record via Presonus DAW recording application two tracks of audio - Voice, and Guitar
2) At the same time record via iPhone 13 Pro the video of me singing and playing

Is there a fairly easy method or methods to sync these? And if I edit or add an additional track - IE a lead guitar part - would it be the same process for that?

I thought if I could find the SOUND WAVEs of each, I could adjust IF I knew how to make small movements in the timeline!

With help from an assistant, use a clapboard.

https://www.amazon.com/clapboard/s?k=clapboard

Timeline movements aren't too difficult for video but audio can sometimes be a challenge. I would think your Presonus software will be a big help.

Assistant stands just in front of you as you begin your video capture.
Start your audio recoding.
Asistant uses clapboard and moves out of frame.

Load video to timeline.
Load audio to timeline.
Slide audio until clapboard peak alines with the first frame where the clapper arm closes to the board.
Cut project at that point if you wish, or leave it for a later cut.

Now synced.
