Computer crashes during rendering.

Hi all -

I'm trying to render a video with a resolution of 3840*2160 and after four hours it was just over 50% when everything just closed up - when I walked back to my computer, VS2020 had closed and all I had were 3 files - an unreadable .mp4 (I assume the unfinished product) and two other files with strange names (they've disappeared from my desktop). This has happened twice with the same video. So is the problem that my laptop can't handle that resolution (it slowed down during editing the more I changed color profiles and sound) or is it something else? DO I have to start all over again on this video or is there an alternative? Any help is appreciated!

Suggestions to try:

1. Ensure that the properties of your project match those of your source clips and then and render using the project settings.
2. Turn off hardware acceleration & smart render
3. If VS has a silent crash at the same location every time, then you look at that location and investigate what filter/setting is causing VS to shutdown.
4. Another approach is to render your VSP in parts, i.e. Part 1 before the area causing the crash, Part 2 the area causing the crash, and Part 3 after the area causing the crash.

Thanks very much - I'll give it a try. Never had any issues until I upped my resolution. I did check the clip resolution and the project resolution and they are the same.
