SMART Render in MSP8 beta

Just downloaded MSP8 and wow seems to have limitless capability (a VS9 users perspective). One thing that doesn't seem to function the way other Ulead software functions is Smart Render. I quite often capture video in MPEG2, with MPEG audio and want to convert the audio to Dolby Digital. Now with VS9 for instance, the rendering is very rapid if you don't change the video, and Smart Render is enabled - it just converts the audio.
When I try the same with MSP8, it encodes the video regardless of the video settings. I've tried to ensure that the project settings match as best I can the clip and all I'm attempting to do is create a DolbyDigital soundtrack. Does anyone have any tips to offer

What are the properties of the Source video -- and have you applied any edits to it?

When you go to render in MSP8 - what are the video attributes you are using, and do you have Perform SmartRender checked?
