svcd & html on same disk?

Post by BobSa »

Can this be done?
On one cd make such that if placed in a DVD player it will run and display the scvd video. If the same CD is placed in a computer's drive, with autoplay active, can it bring up a html page? I can do it all with two unique/separate disks, but to avoid confussion I would like to do it with one.

WHY you ask ...
Church's Sunday sermon that will play on a dvd player or when placed in the computer's cd drive will bring up a "page" with several options. Play the sermon, visit the online church website, recomended links, .....

Yes, we could make two stacks available and label them, but it would be kewl to do it with one. ;-) The preacher would only have to have one set of electronic business cards -- READ as mini disk that fit in a shirts pocket. ;-)

thanks in advance --- probably no the place to be asking -- but you may have seen it done.

I've never tried it, but you should be able to do what you want using MagicISO. This program lets you take an ISO file and modify it -- you'd add the AutoRun files to the ISO, and then burn that using the program of your choice.

Edit: It occurred to me that a PC might still play the disk as a VCD, even if an AutoRun file is present. VCD support comes with Windows Media Player, and since no additional software will need to be installed on most PCs, depending on how the PC is configured when a disk is inserted, it may not look for the AutoRun file.
