VS crashed now I have no sound

I split audio on a couple of tracks. During editing today, VS crashed. I also got the error message that it could not play the sound, message 16804:2:, unable to play the file.

When VS crashed I replied that I wanted that file. Now I have no sound at the beginning of the video and at the end where I was working. I'll see if I have any sound anywhere. I saw this error message on old posts with no definitive answer. I am assuming the worst. How do I bring back all the audio?

I can't believe this! I closed VS, and when asked if I wanted to save the file, I reluctantly replied yes. Then I opened VS back up, loaded the project and I have sound back!! Go figure...

All is good, I think.

just one of those things that happens on computers from time to time - something fails in a programme (not only Videostudio) - first step close and re-open the programme - if that doesn't work shut down and after a wait restart your computer - if that doesn't work ask for help

Thanks for the reminder. When my husband has something go haywire on the iPad, I tell him to shut it down and power it back up. It's amazing how that works. He is not a computer person so thank goodness I am here to tell him what to do.

I think what threw me was the error code and message. It should have said, "I'm locked up, or confused. Please shut me down." Wouldn't that be nice!
