Unable to Import from Bluray Disc

Post by Tezza »

I am unable to import into Video Studio 2021 from a Bluray Disc which I had previously burnt from Video Studio 2010. I keep getting the info that there is no valid content. I got in touch with Corel Technicians and they informed Me that I had to mount the ISO and then open in Windows Explorer to verify the ISO content but the Bluray is not in ISO format. I have contacted them but so far no reply. Can you please advise how I can import this video as I need to further edit this.

I import DVD-R and BD-R discs via DVD MovieFactory 6.0 or 7.0. Try this ...

Tezza,
First, verify that the disk is readable by another program. Can you open/play the disk using VLC?

Or even simpler: This computer will BD-R STREAM disc and copy clips.

I think what Vendelin Zlatko means is that in a video Blu-Ray disc, the video is contained in the STREAM folder on the disc in .m2ts format. You should be able to simply copy that video using File Explorer.

So, the disk is OK - plays in another program. So, the issue is with VS. And I suspect it may be with the technique for insertion you are using. Following on from Ken's remark, rather than just using the capture mode and "importing from disk" which generally is used for mpeg-2 files (DVD) and what you get is an option for the files on the drive. If there are no mpeg-2 files then the message you got would be correct. What you should do (a different method to the one Ken outlined, but same result) is in Edit mode in the main user interface, rt-click on the TL and select 'insert video'. Then, using the navigation panel which opens with this option, go to the dvd drive, locate the stream folder and and select the video file in it that you want. Click Ok and that video file is inserted into the timeline. It should play OK from there.

Tezza,
Sounds like you just want to copy the BR disk. There are other options than using VS. Using the windows search box, key copy disk and see the range of options to do that using windows 10.

Tezza,
If you have imported the BR file (mts?) to the TL and successfully played it, then that message about unlinked or unreadable media makes no sense: you should be able to edit the mts file (adding voiceover, text, cut and trim etc) using normal methods without an issue.
OTOH, if you imported the vsp that produced the BR file, then it may make sense - if some of the media content of the vsp is no longer where the vsp lists it. For example, deleted as part of a cleanup, on an un-connected external drive or memory stick, or even on a re-arranged hard drive such as you may have after buying a new PC.
In the case of the error message, do you get any of the related effects - like black and white bars for a clip - when scanning thru the vsp???

I was informed from Corel Tech. that I would need to purchase a Bluray Plugin for every version as it differs for every version. Is that correct.
