MSP8 HD crossfades

Hi Gang,
MSP8..captured in Hd 16x9 1440x1080. Have a project that calls for some looongish crossfades. When the crossfades are longer than about 12-15 frames there is some kind of flicker near the end of the transition. I have tried it with a number of different clips.. and I don't know if this is something HD is prone to.. or is it a quirk with MSP8? And before someone asks.. the same flicker does not appear between two dv clips of the same length transition.. just the HD ones.
Any ideas?

Are you using proxy files, or editing HDV natively?
