How do you keep PSP from auto selecting a layer? I'm trying to 'grab' a line but every time I do, it swaps to the layer that has the image under the line.
This must be an easy thing but I can't find the setting.
Thanks.

Re: How to Turn off Auto Select?
Can you give more context? What type of layer? What tool you're using? What do you intend to do once you've grabbed it? Essentially you can't turn off Auto-Select. But depending on what you're doing, you shouldn't need to. I say that but it's very much a matter of perspective.
Take for example, if I have a layer with a single pixel line, if I have that layer selected and grab the pick tool it creates a bounding box for me with a convenient grabbing point. If I have a different layer selected and I want to select the line on a specific layer....well then turning off auto-select won't do me any good as I'll be stuck with he line on the layer I'm on. Unable to select the other layer directly. Now, if all I want to do is move a layer, just pick it up and move it somewhere, I can do that with the Move tool and using the right-click and drag method. This forces you to only move the currently selected layer without having to worry about being precise.

If the layer that gets grabbed is above the layer that you're trying to grab try toggling off visibility of the layer that's getting grabbed.

Re: How to Turn off Auto Select?
Ok, thanks. Knowing there is no auto select setting helps. I'm a transplant from Photoshop and new to PSP so I keep trying to relate the two (PSP does have an auto select setting).
I'm trying to move a vector layer line that is above a raster layer background using the pick tool. When I would try to click on the line, it would select the background image. But now that I play with it more I see that if I zoom in more I can grab just the line.

Re: How to Turn off Auto Select?
When you have the vector layer with the line highlighted in the layers palette and select the pick tool are you able to see the little square node in the middle of the bounding box without zooming in? If so, just click and hold on it and you can drag the line layer wherever you want. You don't have to actually click the line although the node will be in the middle of the line. The node on the handle that sticks out from that central node can also be clicked and dragged to rotate the line.
