Unable to Open File Please Verify the file is valid

Post by Faye »

I have read all the other posts on this topic. Not one gives me a solution.
I am using Paint Shop Pro 2022 Ultimate. The files in question happen to be png files.
I have read what others said to do, but that is no help for me.
Is 2022 different in that way?
I would appreciate any help you can give. Thank you so much

Can you provide a sample? There is no one reason why a file might define itself as invalid.

I'm not qualified to diagnose webp file formats, so uncertain why PSP isn't accepting. Given a day or so I can make a script that will use Google's own decoder to convert webp files into PNG files if you're interested.

FWIW I can also not open this image in PSP 2022, getting a 'not valid' response. I also get the same response in Corel PhotoPaint 2021. It does not even show up when I try to open it in Painter 2019 or Painter Essentials 8. But it opens without problems in MS Paint.

Mind you, in Video Studio, we also cannot open some webm videos -- I assume the video equivalent of webp images -- in the Corel programs. Those videos are made using the V9 (as opposed to the earlier V8) codec. So I wonder if there is something special like this with these webp images.

Hey thanks for the super helpful reply. I'm not sure how I missed that thread. I haven't quite mastered the search function on here. I think I'll pass with him this time around. If i want any further guideline we will contact you here.
Thanks
