I would have thought 16 Gb of ram to be sufficient at least within Corels recommendation.

Have you tried deselecting the hardware acceleration options, I normally have those deselected as I have AMD, It is only the last few programs that now support AMD.

Yes, I tried without hardware support anyway
I've already tried the impossible ... I don't know how to proceed. I'll probably try to add another 16GB of RAM
And thank you for thinking of me

I cannot escape the thought that this isn't a feature of VS issue, but rather a 'consequence' of the conditions you are working with. Your problem statement is that a 2 to 3 hr video rendered in SD works, but the same clip/s rendered in FHD/4k have an audio issue in the last 20sec: video but no audio, and no remedy for the latter format attempted works.
Extra RAM may speed the render up, but the working storage is usually on a HDD, unless you are working on a laptop with v large SSD as the only drive.
However, rendering works by assembling the final version, frame by frame, in the workspace before copying it to the specified final location. The difference between SD and FHD/4K is time and size; Time because there is a much larger amount of data to process, and size because the FHd./4k version will be about 4-6 times larger than the SD version simply because the resolution of each frame is that much larger.

So, have you checked the amount of storage you have available in the preferences specified working store? is it enough and more for the whole rendered result??

I have enough 3X 1TB of storage space.
And it can't be a problem that I have the system and VS installed on an SSD-disk and render to an HDD-disk ??? I will try it.
