Library pane missing on start

Post by Davidk »

It's a new day and after reading Trevors latest post in topic "VSP 2021 Problems Saving/Rendering MPEG2 Files", I opened my 2021 to check what the default field setting in share was. UFF. But in the process I found the library pane totally missing on start. Several starts, including a warm boot; v consistent, see this screenshot
24.1.0.299 library missing.jpg
After a further re-start and the same result, I opened the preferences panel and checked the UI layout tab: surprise!! no setting at all showing. Clicked on the default button, and the normal UI presentation is back. immediately, and also after a CVS re-start.

I'm reporting it here because:
1. 2021 was totally normal when I checked it yesterday.
2. I have no idea what may have caused this. No normal windows updates have been applied for 10 days now, but a windows defender antivirus update (KB2267602 v 1.363.541.0) was applied today as part of the normal cold start process. The MS page on that item lists no issues.
3. someone else might have this problem and want to know how to escape it.

I have not seen that issue in VS2021, but in VS2022 I have a blank UI layout screen in Preferences, but the library is intact

I usually never look at UI Layout in Preferences as I never change the layout. I just did and have a colorful screen rather than white, though Default is not active. I click on it but next time I open Preferences, it is not selected again. But my layout always works, so I am happy enough...

David
Yes have experienced the same, not often and cannot replicate.
Cannot say if i have had problem with 2022 but certainly 2021 did this.

Usually when switching views from Edit to Share, but as said I cannot replicate to order.

F7 to set UI to default layout usually fixes things, otherwise rebooting the program.
