Importing WebM video

According to Corel, VS can import WebM video content,

However both Ken and myself have been unable to import any WebM content, with Standard Resolution, we get "File Format Mismatch" and with 4k WebM, instant crash.

So the question being asked, is how many VS users need WebM capability, is it worth pursuing Corel for a fix

The most recent activity on this involved the VP9 variant of webm, 2 samples of which give a file format mismatch error in both 2021 and 2022 when I tried to load them. And I have established that the same samples work fine on Cyberlink's Power Director 18. AFAIK, VP8 works in CVS (PM from Adi) but I have no test samples.

And webm is a google patented license free format originally developed for youtube, so it's not going away. See this article in wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VP9. And given that a) it's not new, been around for 6-7 years so far, and b) CVS allows a render direct to YT, it probably behooves the Corel dev team to get of it's *** and do it.

I use webm files but most have to be trancoded before VS will ingest them, otherwise VS freezes and has to be killed. Hence I'd like to see VS ingest webm files.

Yes Robert I think it is worth escalating.
You should post a Bug report as well as a new Feature (to be sure) to Centercode

Other users that are having issues with Webm should report to Corel Support, although they will probably tell us to re-install to fix this.

This only applies to WebM with the VP9 codec, VP8 codec WebM videos are not an issue

after installing 25.1.0.472 update, WebM with VP9 codec still not able to be imported into VS 2022

Yes, but I think at much smaller file size, like swf was.
