I've been using Paint Shop Pro since the Jasc days...something recently changed.
I often type text in a new layer in raster.
- I create the raster layer
- I click the T for text
- Click in the new raster layer
- As soon as I start typing, in forces the type to Vector in a new layer.
It was never like this. I even did a fresh install of PSP 2020 without the updates.
What am I missing?
Thanks in advace. I did search the board for an answer.

Re: Forcing Vector Text/can't type in raster. 20 years experience with psp
I am used to the following.
1) Set "Create As" to "Floating" - If it's set to vector the end result will be a vector layer. If it's set to Selection it'll only be a selection not a raster image.
2) Click on canvas to begin typing in a new text object
3) A new temporary vector layer is created as text is a vector initially
4) Accept the changes and the vector layer is replaced with a floating selection layer
5) Move the text into place, and unfloat the selection to merge it down into my raster layer.
Of course I never do this. I prefer working with vectors as they are infinitely changeable. If I ever want it to be a raster I create a duplicate of the layer and convert to raster or merge down.
