PSP 2022 running extremely slow

Post by clif9710 »

A long time user of PSP, I recently upgraded from 9 to 2022. Though I have a I7 PC with 16gig memory, I find that 2022 is very slow. For example, when I want to make a selection, or want to insert text it takes literally 5 seconds before the appropriate cursor will appear. I would have stayed with PSP 9 but for the fact that it won't run under Win10.

I have a fast NVidia graphics board used for video games, but I assume that PSP 2022 is not using it, using the motherboard graphics instead. Is there a way I can tell PSP to use the graphics card?

Is there anything else I can do to get rid of the very slow speed that is making graphics composition all but impossible?

This has come up several times. It's not normal for PSP to take 5 seconds for a tool selection except for maybe the very first time with a tool that needs to re-cache the resources like the brush and only during the first run. But once the cache is loaded it should be fast. And the graphics card is only faster for certain things like the AI functions, general UI will never use your graphics card. And as far as effects, if it's just general calculations graphics card vs CPU won't be an amazingly different experience unless your CPU is being used heavily by some other process.

My Alienware is over 5 years old, also an i7, only 6GB of RAM, Windows 10 (only Windows 7 supported officially) and it works just fine without major slowdowns. So whatever the cause is for some computers to be really slow with PSP, it's not normal and are weird fringe issues that need to be looked at by the company.

Best to contact Corel support.

And if you're up for it, join the PSP beta program so that they can more directly test against your computer or a similar model.

I am having the same situation with PSP Pro 2022 Ultimate running very slow. Waiting about 15 to 20 seconds between functions to do anything. Does PSP have a cache that can be deleted?
I have no idea what else to do. I read the comments here. Mine has been this way for 2 days now.
Is there any help?
Thank you

Best solution to find the problem is to get a group of people with the problem and without the problem and eliminate what might cause it. I say it could be software confliction, so if these people run Winaudit (fsearch internet)they might find they have one software/ component in common. Most likely another software or driver is causing the issues.
