I decrease the volume of a clip. In fragment mode I can hear the decreased volume: excellent. In Project mode (audio plus video) the volume is not decreased but still at full volume. Right in Project mode you have to hear (and see) the changes you have made. But not in Video Studio.
I add a fade out: not to hear in both modes. In mixer mode I see a tiny fade but not at all to silence.
Video Studio is not suitable for audio editing. And they don't care.

VS has never had good audio editing and in fact when rendering, VS can introduce audio blips - see https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f ... ilit=blipsAntois wrote: Lousy audio editing in Corel Video Studio
In my experience, changes in the volume are evident in both the Clip and Project modes.Antois wrote: In fragment mode I can hear the decreased volume ... In Project mode (audio plus video) the volume is not decreased but still at full volume.
In the Sound Mixer mode, you can see that VS only reduces the volume to -36. Sometimes this isn't enough but it has been that way for years.Antois wrote: I add a fade out: not to hear in both modes. In mixer mode I see a tiny fade but not at all to silence.
You may find Audacity helpful for sound editing.

Re: Lousy audio editing in Corel Video Studio
Thank you tletter.
I didn't know about the maximum fade out of -36 dB, now I understand why I still hear sound at the end of a fade out.
The strange thing is that sometimes fading and decreasing the volume goes well and the next time it doesn't work at all. Audio editing in Corel Video Studio is very unpredictable and certainly not professional. Corel does not improve this and other things in all their 'new versions'.
I use Goldwave for audio-editing but Audacity is of course also a good option.

And furthermore: the rendered audio differs from the original sound. The volume changes a bit up and down at some moments.

Re: Lousy audio editing in Corel Video Studio
I reported the fade to silence issue two years ago. After probably a 100 emails and calls to Tech Support I finally got to do a Video Conference with Corel Tech Support and they confirmed the problem. It was not fixed in future updates and it sounds like it is still a problem with the newest version. (This problem was reported to Corel originally in 2009 but have refused to fix it. Below is the problem I was having and the reply received from Corel Tech Support.

Any word yet as to why Corel refuses to fix the Fade to Silence issue. This is getting ridiculous. You and I confirmed that this was a problem yet nothing has been done to fix it. Does Corel not believe the findings of their own support (you). I have to use another program to take care of this simple task and then import and align that audio track with my video. If users knew the software could not provide a feature that is falsely advertised as being part of the Program then they should remove that statement. Can you imagine having a Video Fade to Black that does not really fade to Black(you could see video when it should be blackened). As asked previously on many occasions, Why is this not fixed and please have one of your Audio “Experts” contact me and explain this to me. I am interested to hear why this is so difficult to do since I am a Audio Engineer and don’t understand.

Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support.
Please understand, that once I report an issue to our QA team, the issue is out of my hands, and I am only acting as the proverbial "middle man" from this point forward.
Checking on the ticket I logged, it seems the team is still investigating the issue of the true silence. That's all the information that I have at this time.
Thank you,

I am not sure why the QA team needs to look at my system. I did that testing with you and it was confirmed that the FADE TO SILENCE does NOT fade to Silence. I has been noted for 15 years+ on user forums. -36 is NOT SILENCE. As noted almost All Audio/Video Software including FREE software is capable of Fading Audio to silence. Why is this so difficult for QA team to understand. Fix the Problem. I will not be allowing Corel to Access my Computer as there is no need. The problem is obvious and after 15 years of reporting this problem it has not being fixed so why would I think they are serious about fixing the issue now. I would suggest that Corel hire a QA team that has used the software at least once.
