I am trying multi-camera edit in both VS 2022 Ultimate and 2020 Pro. I am using two cameras, both same make and model, same fps and as it goes along the audio gets shorter. I'm not putting in any crossfades in the multi cam edit nor in the final. My work-around is lay camera 1 on the video timeline and lay camera 2 in an overlay and manually cut out sections of camera 2 when I want camera 1. Worked with audio staying in sync which makes me think it's something to do with how multi-camera edit is working. Both versions of VS had the same problem. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Candy

Re: Multi Camera Edit out of sync with audio
Hi Candy
Not really sure what you are doing in adding the video to top track and one on the overlay track, yet you mention using Multi Cam Editor.
I assume both recordings are of the same footage.
Create a new media library folder, add your two video files
Drag the main video to the timeline to show the messages allowing us to match the project properties. Then remove that video.
Select both clips in the library, right click for Multi Cam Editor, this opens the MCE source manager, now Ok to open MCE
To the top of the timelines far left is Audio, a small circular icon to Sync, should sync both tracks
Click the wave form icon below the word Audio to view.
The two tracks should be in sync
Now play the tracks clicking the options 1 or 2 top left to select which you wish to view.
Is the above similar to what you were doing
When complete hit OK will return to main timelines, a VSP being placed in the library, drag this to the top timeline

Re: Multi Camera Edit out of sync with audio
Hi Trevor: 1) In Multi Cam Editor, I dragged camera 1 onto the video timeline and then clicked yes to match camera properties, then deleted it off the timeline like you said. I clicked on Cameras 1 & 2 and right clicked for Multi Cam Editor.
2) In MCE sync using audio initially didn't work due to I think much longer video of camera 2 before music started. I could have trimmed it first? anyway ...
3) So I manually synced it in MCE using audio wavelengths. But as it went along it got out of sync. I'm thinking the problem is how the clips are cut in MCE?
4) So to get thru it, I went back to manually laying down the two tracks not using MCE, manually syncing audio and manually cutting the overlay. That way I don't get the audio discrepancy. If it wasn't an orchestra I could probably be
less precise. (See description of this below to answer your first question.)
To answer first question on what edit method I was using:
What I meant to say is I can do muti cam edit not using Multi Cam Editor by placing both cameras videos, one on video timeline, the other on overlay and then go along and clip out what I don't want of Camera 2 on the overlay. First I have to sync the audio manually. Tedious process but it works. This is versus using Multi Cam Editor. I seem to get a better sync this way for some reason.
One other issue I'm seeing with VS 2022 Ultimate is audio wave on the video timeline is hard to use, waves are too indistinct in blurry green color. I'm back to using VS 2021 Pro. Anyway, that's another subject.
Thanks for your help.
Candy

Re: Multi Camera Edit out of sync with audio
Thanks for the added info, I realise now you are doing this manually.
I wonder why MCE is struggling with this?
You could try removing trim the silent section on one of the videos within MCE timelines, select the clip and drag the start yellow trim handle to remove the silent part, then try syncing.
Otherwise use the main timelines to trim and rendering the one video to “same as first clip” using this copy with MCE.
As for the wave form, yes very disappointing views, I think a 2 year old could draw a better representation of the audio wave form.
I do not have a solution other than using 2021 as you are having to do.

Back to the audio wave form on VS 2022 Ultimate, I haven't bought 2023 yet, is the audio wave still the blurry green in 2023?
Thanks,
Candy

The MCCE timelines look a little better than the main timelines, at least to me.
thats for 2021 and 2023
