I want to blur a region of the screen/canvas, a fixed rectangle.
It's a place where people's avatars appear, and I want those avatars blurred a bit, well, i want them to still blink a bit, hence using s static image overlay is not quite what I want.
Pretty sure I'm just out of practise with this program. When i motion track, the tracker drifts back to the center of the screen because there really is no easy way to target the static area using the motion tracker, since it's all just random stuff moving behind and around the area I want to track. Hence blur a static rectangle?
A bit like this:

I used a tracker to mosaic the bit at the top, but the bit on the left would not stand still. so i made a static overlay to hide the avatars there. It was just too many steps, so I feel like I overthought this one.

Try using the mask creator to draw a triangle.

Oh, yeah I set the video as "adult" because it is a conversation on the topic of the ongoing war. So to view, you will need to be logged into YT.
I also had the video in "edit" mode still, doh". Hmmm mask creator. I was just tidying things up, that sounds like what I want. Hold that thought, really miss the nice video tutorials we used to get all the time.

Awesome, I found making the mask nice and tidy a bit tricky, because the mask creator zoom is a bit confusing to be honest (It's a stupid tall portrait video).
But it works great, I really need to use the mask tool more often and get used to it, most of my aha moments with VS are mask related.
Correctly done clip :

Yes, arguably using "mozaic" overlay to blur the image is not perfect, but it's not that important to get the blurring to look good and be totally anonymous.
