Error on import .MTS files

Post by Elve »

Hi everybody,

I have a strange issue and hope somebody on here can help me. I am running Corel Videostudio 2021 ultimate. I just started a new project, now i am importing my *.MTS files into the project by draging them from my explorer to the project folder in videostudio. I have about a 140 *.MTS files all recorded with the same camera and the same settings. but on 4 of the files i get an error notification saying "i can not import the file because the have an invalid file format, my computer has to little memory or the file is copyright protected".

Is there anybody who can help me out with this?

Do you have a program like Media Info on your computer. This will give a huge amount of information about the video attributes of any clip. It is freeware and very good, and can be downloaded from https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo If possible set it to Tree structure.

Otherwise, what does File Explorer say about the video clips causing the difficulty in your project?

Do not drag and Drop
Can you try importing the files to the library, create a new empty folder for the files.
Right click the folder for import Media files
Or right click the timeline for Insert Video
Corel limited the use of Digital Dolby to use only Stereo Sound.
I have not had any issues using my MTS recorded to Surround Sound 5.1, except the program only playing the audio as Stereo.

As Kens reply use Media Info to check the video files properties.

If i Right click in the timeline and insert the video from a folder of my pc i get the error "File format mismatch" at the bottem left of the notification window is an error code [16803:1:3]

If i check the details of the file in my explorer from a file that is working and a file that is not working they look pretty much the same in my opinion.

they both have the same bitrate, both files are 2 channel stereo, both have 50 fps and both are 1080p.

Clearly some files work ok whilst others fail.
Are you able to share one of the problem files, you will have to upload to a sharing site, google drive, drop box etc, then provide us with a sharing link.

I have just imported my mts 50 fps 1920 x 1080 to VideoStudio 2021 with no problems

Is it possible that the camcorder was turned off before stopping the recordings, maybe a flat battery whilst recording, which may result in the file not being closed correctly, if so you could try using a video converter to repair the file, then try importing again.

I just downloaded Duo Video Converter, If i convert the "faulty" MTS file to a MP4 file, then i can import the MP4 file. Still strange that i cant import the MTS file tough.

If you convert from MTS to m2ts that should retain the same properties.

I have not used Duo Video Converter before but will give it a run
