Thank you all for the feedback. I will try a reinstall. If that doesn't work, I will load all the thumbnails into VS-2022, which I just upgraded to yesterday from 2021. While I have some word/titles in the project, so far I have only added transitions and edited some video clips. It sure is strange what can happen when you don't work on a project for a while, take a vacation, and then try to resume. I guess vacations aren't good!

Bear in mind that a PC is not static - even if you think so. Windows does automatic updates to various things, and apps rely on various windows features. Especially a new release like win11, not 6 months in public and various feature tweaks and new features to it are being discussed in the computer mags almost everyday, it seems. It's not unheard of for a routine windows update to break things in an app. VS especially. And included in that comment are various essential system items like drivers etc, often dependent on the type of processor, display adapter and other items you use in your particular computer. Isolating which one is a cause can be a tedious process, which is why those questions get asked by the admins.

I was one of those Windows people who years ago installed a fix "not" to go to the next Windows. This time, I didn't bother when Windows 11 happened.

That said, I decided to open my project in the new VS-2022. I reloaded all the thumbnails and voila, I have audio. I decided it wasn't worth it to uninstall and reinstall or fix ProX8 only to go to VS-2022 for my next project. I am glad I decided to make the switch.

Before I get this project done, VS-2023 will probably be out!

This is just an update and a comment. I am very pleased with VS-2022. I did try the speech to text feature, but see it is limited by the surroundings when the scene was recorded. We don't use additional microphones, low tech here.

My one complaint with VS-2022 is when I open it, I get that dang promotional screen. I have not figured out how to turn that off. Oh well.

Do you mean the program starts showing the Welcome screen, If so:-

Go to Settings Preferences (F6)
Change Display startup Page from Welcome Book to Edit

Unless they mean the little pop-up ad offering the program all over again at a reduced price. If so, they could try going to Help > Message Preferences and adjust things there. It works for a while but eventually you need to clean out anything that gathers in both C:\ProgramData\Corel\Messages and in C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages

Sorry I did not check back. Yeah, I went to preferences and changes it so I don't get the ad anymore. Thanks all!
