Audio Missing in Video Studio
I don't have audio for a video clip in Pro X8. I don't know why the audio is missing.

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
Does your video have sound if played in any other program, VLC for example, if not, then the issue is with your PC not VS

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
The last time I was working on this movie, the audio was fine. I can play the video clip in a Windows app and the audio is fine. When in Video Studio, I right mouse click the video clip, and it says "No Audio." The exact video clip that is in VS works fine in a Windows app. All my video clips in my draft movie are now missing the audio, and they probably now all have that property of "No Audio."
I have no clue why VS does not see the audio.

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
The audio wouldn't be 5.1 channel Dolby, would it? Corel for some strange reason stopped support for it a while ago, though for Win 10 and 11 they retained dual channel Dolby.
Do you have a program like Media Info on your computer. This will give a huge amount of information about the video and audio attributes of any clip. It is freeware and very good, and can be downloaded from https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo If possible set it to Tree structure.
Otherwise, what does File Explorer say about the audio when you point it at one of the clips in your project?

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
MS changed the rules for dolby with windows 8 - the codecs for it were included with the OS, and also for every windows release since then. So, video editors progressively removed their internal dolby codecs, relying on the OS. Clips with dolby audio still play Ok with VS versions around x8-x10, but from 2018 onwards, those clips would not play audio in VS if the OS was windows 7.
Since your OS is listed as win 11, this missing codec problem probably should not affect you.
Nevertheless, a bit of recall is in order, as win 11 is a recent release: was the last time you played those clips with Ok audio actually with windows 11, or the OS you ran before upgrading to it??

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
I'm not sure if I accessed the draft movie since I was upgraded to Windows 11. I probably didn't. Regarding Ken's question about what does File Explorer say about the video in Video Studio, that was what I was trying to explain when I stated that if I "right mouse click" the video clip it shows "No Audio." But when I check the properties of the same clip in the folder (not in VS) the audio is visible. That is why I said that VS can't see the audio.
As far as the 5.1 channel Dolby question, I'll have to look into that. I'll be back!

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
Here are the Audio Properties. The Bit Rate was 1533, 1537, and 1529 kbps on three of the files. They are: Channels 2 (stereo) and the Audio Sample Rate is 48.000 kHz.
I wonder if Windows 11 did this? Urggg.

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
Is it only your draft movie project that has this issue, what happens if you start a new project using the same clips, has the audio returned.

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
I hate to tell you, I was going to finish this video and then switch to Video Studio 2021, which I already purchased. I will start a new project in X8 and see what happens. I have my fingers crossed.

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
I created a new project, 2 actually. The first was with some of the same video clips as my current project. Audio is missing in VS, but I can hear it by just opening the clip in Windows. I then selected some video clips still in a folder from the last movie I created. Same deal. No audio is heard and the properties of the clip in VS says "No Audio." But I can play that clip in Windows and the sound is just fine. What is the disconnect with VS ProX8?
I think this is Corel's way of forcing me to start using VS2021...

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
I opened up VS 2021, created a new project (with smart proxy on) and loaded 3 videos from my project that has no audio in VS ProX8. I placed them in the video timeline view and the audio plays!
So do I give up and start over in VS 2021, or keep trying to find out why ProX8 won't recognize the audio in the video clips? What a pain.

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
You could try reinstalling VSX8, it could just be a corrupt file causing the problem which a reinstall might fix, that would save you needing to create the draft project again

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
But make a copy of the original X8 project file. That way, if you open the original of that file in 2021 it will become a 2021 format file and you won't be able to open it again in X8 if you have to go back to X8. But you will have a copy of the VSP file in X8 format to fall back on...

Re: Audio Missing in Video Studio
Have you tried resetting the program by renaming the 18.0 folder to 18.0_old
Running X8 again will create a new 18.0 folder
You may be best to export the library as a backup before resetting the program.
Some info here:- http://lata.me.uk/corel/reset/reset.htm
As mentioned by Robert you will have to consider re-installing the program should a reset not improve things.
