VideoStudio crashes when importing a file

Post by Antois »

Hello.
I have a MP4 file which I cannot import in Video Studio. It's a MP4 video, 3 MB, 1400x1400, 1470 kbps, 25fps without audio. There's no audio track at it.
When I try to import the file Video Studio crashes each time. Has anyone an idea what could be the cause? Maybe the absence of audio?

Thanks for your time.

Apart from the square size of the frame and the fact that that size is not one of the standard video sizes, there is no real reason why VS would refuse to accept it or crash. I am wondering what you used to film it.

Is there any way you could upload a small part of the video to a website like Dropbox so we could see what it does to our own VS 2021?

If not, the only other thing I can think of right now is to suggest you put the video through a video converter program, like the freeware Handbrake which a number of us here use, and set it to produce a new video with much the same properties, though probably with a different frame size. And then see if that also causes VS to crash.

Thank you for answering! I used your last suggestion and converted the file in XMedia Recode (a free program) with the same properties, only added audio properties. Now VS accepts the file.
