2021 store graphics pack: where is it?

Post by Davidk »

Once more the VS store confuses with it's results - or apparently, lack thereof.
I decided that I needed some better graphics for a project and there is a free graphics pack in the store: screenshot
24.1.0.299 graphic pack.jpg
There are a number of items in it, but the programs' standard frame content is 5, and an extra 20 to choose from is attractive. So I downloaded and installed the pack using the on-screen buttons. The windows installer ran, and finished. A re-boot, and there are still only 5 frames in the graphics library despite the assertions of the software store. Screenshot of the graphics frames post graphics pack install. An extra 20 frames should show a total of 25 icons here, and there are still only 5.

So, if the graphics pack is installed, where is it???

Hi Davidk, just installed that graphics pack which I wasn't aware of, so thanks for that. I have 67 graphics under the Graphics tab. This is some of them.

GB,
on my system, it's the overlays item in the library tool bar (small square with a flower emblem on it), then choose frame from the list.

David, I have Basic Shapes 15, Animated Overlays 17, Graphics 67 Colours 0. That is all under Overlays (small square with a flower emblem on it). I don't see Frames at all, did you not purchase them separately? That's version 24.1.0.299.

From the Welcome screen – Store

Selecting the Graphics pack shows a Download button, hit that and the screen refreshes to show an Install button. Nothing else happens.

Hit the Install and now the download starts, notice the green progress bar top right.

A GraphicsPack.exe file is saved to the %temp% folder

Once download is complete the installation should auto start.

The file could be described as a self extracting exe file.

A folder is saved to the desktop, within this folder are lots of exe files, these have now to be run one at a time to install their content

These files will be installed and show in the Overlays library, used to be called Graphics.

Several types BG.exe are Backgrounds, CP + Colour Pallette, FR = Frames and OB are Objects

Each exe file installs at least 5 clips

I do not have Video Studio 2021 installed at the moment but can provide screen shots later if that is needed.

There are some files called DoMore_Title, I would ignore those, Although Corel may have updated the files and they will have been removed.

I am having some issues in installing the Graphics clips to the library.
I think the last time it worked automatically was probably back in X10 or 2018 hmmm
The files are installed / saved to :-
C:\Users\User Name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPContent\Decoration

From there they should automatically show in the library, having a problem with that part
I can manually import to the library just like any other file, so all is not lost.

Hi Trevor,
I installed the Graphics Pack into VS2022 and the contents are also now available in VS2018 & VS2021,
Not previously installed, removed when uninstalling with a completely clean reinstall of the 3 programs

Trevor,
I picked frames because a) that's what I wanted and b) there were only a few so I could check the results easily.
So, found the desktop folder, opened, and executed FR-01.exe item (1 of 30 in the pack) which should have put extra frames into that part of the library. re-start VS - no, there's still only the original 5 frames in the library there and no idea where those FR-01 executed items wound up.
There's got be an easier way than this - from a user perspective, whether free or paid, anything downloaded and installed from the store should auto connect to the related version of CVS: meaning, open the s/w and the extra items are integrated and obvious when the appropriate part is displayed, like frames, objects or text fonts. What is there right now is cumbersome, painful and not a good experience. I've messaged Nick about it.

I had no issues installing David, it is a pain that each one has to be installed separately, but they are all there

Robert,
Noted your results, so I tried again: in the graphic pack, executed FR-01.exe. the install window appeared etc, and when done - opened VS again. No extra frames in the overlays panel. Also looked in 2022 in case it went there - no, frames in 2022 also standard, no extras.
In the library overlays frame panel, I looked up the 'locate on computer' for one of the standard items, and it's in the C drive, not my custom space. So I still don't know where the elements of that FR-01 item went, but it's not connecting to VS.
I think you use a default install for VS, and I use custom, so maybe that's where the extras went. Can you confirm you use a default install?

Thanks, Robert. I suspect that the store only installs to default. Next Q: can you select one of the new frames from FR=01, locate it on the computer and tell what the path to it is? That might allow me to find them on my custom system.
