using Auto Music: Add to timeline doesn’t light up.
hello videostudio ultimate users,
in auto music:
ADD TO TIMLINE doesn’t light up.
so it’s not possible to use this nice feature
yes, it’s possible to select the song - play and listening to it, but… there’s no way to grab it, because; ADD TO TIMELINE doesn’t light up. (stay’s grey, as well AUTO TRIM).
and also strange:
With re-starting videostudio (random)- it shows me sometimes more possible versions and next time less song choices.
for example: category AMBIENT, - song SUSPENSE, - version: DISCOVERED / GOHST IN THE MACHINE / POISONED MIND.
a next time it shows me more choices.
same as above, plus:
YOU ARE BEING FOLLOWED / WALKING NIGHTMARE / YOU ARE SURROUNDED.
isn’t that strange?
I would like so much to use this feature.
greetings. and thanks; Wim.

Welcome to the forum.
It seems to me, though, that you may have chosen music which requires payment. If you are in the Triple Scoop library page, and there is a little icon beside it which looks like a supermarket trolley, that indicates you have to buy the music. See my attached image. And I'm afraid that all of the music listed on that page is in that category.

hi ken,
triple scoop library: I know about this payment feature, but that’s not what I mean.
please have a closer look at: AUTO MUSIC.
auto music should be free. but I can’t grab it into the timeline because it’s not highlighted.

Re: using Auto Music: Add to timeline doesn’t light up.
Huh! Sorry about that. But I see what you mean. I get the same if there is already music in the music track of the timeline. The only way I could get around it was to move the existing music up into the voice timeline. That then made "Add to timeline" active again, and the new track was added to the music timeline. I then had to drag that new music along the timeline to where you want it, and then I could drag the original music back down to the music timeline. That's a silly and time consuming way to do things, especially when you want to add more than two pieces of music. I've just looked at AutoMusic in VS 2022 which has just been released, but it is the same there. So I hope someone else has a better suggestion.
As for your second problem, it's interesting, but I cannot reproduce it. I wish I could, just to get the extra choices. But I have opened and closed VS 2021 several times now, and all I get with Ambient > Suspense is Discovery/Ghost in the Machine/Poisoned Mind. And its the same for the other music. I get the same choice of songs each time I open the program. So again I can only hope someone else can offer suggestions which may help you.

As you know Ken I am not on my pc, something makes me think the song duration may have a bearing on what is available. Hmmm maybe i should wait till I am back on the pc

If you add additional music tracks, problem solved, music already in timeline, will then have no effect on Auto Music, Add to Timeline remains active

Re: using Auto Music: Add to timeline doesn’t light up.
Aha! Thanks Robert. Oddly enough, I have never had to increase the number of music or voice tracks before. But nice to know it serves a purpose!

Re: using Auto Music: Add to timeline doesn’t light up.
I have found it intriguing that the number of tracks available in a subcategory sometimes increases on a revisit and I have not inserted any music on timeline.

Auto Music
Category section has 10 options to choose from, each category has different Songs that can be selected.
If I choose say Ambient then I can only see 6 Song, depending on which Song I choose gives different Variations.
Choose Classical and I have 4 Songs
The amount of song choices depends on the Category we choose.

Re: using Auto Music: Add to timeline doesn’t light up.
Thanks Trevor,
I understand that but have previously found, on occasions, when I reject one variation then go back along the same path the number of options in the final selection has increased, with extra tracks but still including those displayed originally.

Are you able to replicate this behaviour, if so take a screen shot for both conditions and attach to your post

Re: using Auto Music: Add to timeline doesn’t light up.
Trevor,
I'm not concerned about it, just thought it was an interesting quirk. Think I noticed it on 2019 version and I'm using 2021 now so won't try to duplicate it but thanks for your interest. Peter
