upgrade x10 to ultimate2021 harm timeline?

today I’m willing upgrade X10 to ultimate2021.
my question; will it harm the existing project on the timeline? (wouldn’t like losing my unfinished creation).

There can be some issues when opening an X10 VSP in VS2021 depending on which filters you've used and on certain features like speed/time-lapse. One can't know without trying.

I'd recommend that you finish your project X10 if you've invested a lot of time in its creation.

You can still keep X10 with 2021 but.... you will not be able to load projects saved in 2021 in X10 !
So you better save a copy of that X10 project with a proper name.
My last 2c will be not to change versions while working on a project.

Not so fast, you need a little background and planning.

Projects from X10 will MOSTLY transfer to VS2021 or VS2022. Some effects and transitions don't convert properly but those are few and easy to fix.

Any X10 project you even just open in VS2021/2022 will be altered, even without saving, and will NOT open in X10 ever again.

ALWAYS USE A COPY OF THE X10 VSP FILE IF YOU WANT TO REOPEN IN X10.

yes, there where some tiny issues after upgrading, but as you told; easy to repair.
so happy that almost everything was still is in the timeline (a blood sweat and tears project).

X10 is still running too.
I’m able to use both of the editing programs.
And my unfinished timeline is still available as well.
