VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
I've been using VS 2020 for over a year without any problems ... until I tried to burn an AVCHD disc as follows:
.mp4 1280x720p Var --'24 fps--- Var2Mbps "24 FPS" ACC .... to AVCHD disk. (AVCHD folders only)
No matter what permutations I tried, and I tried more than a dozen, the burn module would FORCE "PAL" mode.
I made sure that "settings > preferences > edit = NTSC", and that Movie Mgr, in the EDIT workspace, was also set to "NTSC". But, the burn module's "Disk Template Mgr", would continually default to "PAL'. Resetting it to "NTSC" wouldn't help as it reverted back as soon as I left that component.
After over 10 hrs. of experimenting, I finally found a cumbersome 'work around'.
If I converted the original file to 1920x1080P 29.97fps and AC3 , I could get the burn module to produce an AVCHD disc .....
BUT ONLY IF the converted file was first put into the EDIT timeline, and THEN change to the "Share (burn module)!
However, if I opened VS 2020 and went directly to the 'Share' (burn module), and then imported the converted file, it would once again
BECOME IMPOSSILE to get the burn module out of "PAL" mode!
Therefore the question is: as opposed to using the cumbersome work around method (which adds hours to the process!), how can I force the burn module to STAY in NTSC mode? Is there a registry entry that can be accessed to do this? Is there an 'ini' file that can be changed?

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
From the main timelines, what are your project properties?
If set to ntsc then the burner should default to using ntsc.
It may be a 24fps issue, I will check my 2021 program?
Can you confirm you are burning a AVCHD DVD Disc, or a Bluray disc

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
Hello Trever, Here are some snapshots for the project (attachments)
0. File specs from Mediainfo
1. Insertion query at initial insertion into the time line. YES change, properties do not show NTSC, but I can change this.
2. Project properties in the timeline. NTSC showing
3. "I" nfo from timeline in burn module. NTSC showing
4. MPEG properties in burn module. PAL SHOWING
Any ideas?

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
Attempting to burn AVCHD disc. Everything remains as NTSC ...until ... I get into the burn module. I'm sure the Corel staff are NOT very interested in fixing a problem in an older version, so I'll wind up using the cumbersome workaround. Were you able to determine if the problem persists in the 2021 version as well.

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
Sorry Allen I misssed your post as I was away from home for a few days
You posted 4 images, the one from the burner module being missing.
Although you saw Pal in the properties details what were the full properties in particular the frame rate.
If you complete the burn process to create a Folder you can view the video files, what are those properties.

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
Trevor -- I'm wondering if VS can deal with 23.976 (or 24) fps video when it's making an AVCHD disc, which is what Allen-B is doing. So I wonder also if, when it comes to burn the disc it bumps the framerate up slightly to the nearest rate it can deal with, namely 25 fps which of course makes it PAL. To get NTSC in these circumstances I suspect you would need to use a video converter to change the 23.976 fps video to 29.97 fps. But of course if that just copies existing frames to make up the difference, the end result could be a bit jerky.

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
Ken that is quite true and the reason to ask for the full properties
24 fps ( 23.976) as far as I know is neither Pal or Ntsc but more of a universal rate.)
Using 1280 x 720 may be another stumbling block as I believe the frame rate has to be 50P / 60P
That of course assumes Bluray I think
We can also burn DVD and AVCHD to DVD discs
I know in the past I have been able to burn a 24fps but have to convert the project carefully choosing the right properties which would burn without further conversion.
The burner module does / did not have a 24 fps option and still avoided Convert Title.
I did ask earlier
“Can you confirm you are burning a AVCHD DVD Disc, or a Bluray disc” both of course use AVCHD video files.

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
I have run a few tests trying to burn 1280 x 720 x 24fps to AVCHD disc and I am unable to do that using 24 fps, the burner as you rightly say reverts to Pal 25fps.
I then tested the Bluray option which did the same reverted to Pal 25fps.
For me this is not a problem as I live in UK using Pal so would not see this change, the change from 24 to 25 being small, only when reverting from NTSC would this be noticeable.
So Ken hit the nail on the head when “wondering if VS can deal with 24fps”
I’ll run a few more tests using various frame sizes and 24 fps to see if there is a combination that works.

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
Thanks Trevor for your research. BTW: I was trying for 1920x1080 and since you received the same results with 1280x720, I too think that the burn module needs some debugging. The AVCHD spec shows that 24p should be supported. I'm wondering if Corel has to pay extra $$ for that feature? (dunno) Allen

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
Are you talking about the general AVCHD spec or the AVCHD Disc spec. The latter may be more restrictive than the former...

Re: VS 2020 Burn Module forces PAL, not able to change
Sorry for the delay Ken... You're correct .. the 24fps is in the 'spec'. I haven't any idea as to what the Disc support for that spec is. Thank you Allen
